FLORIDA!!

Jun 02, 2006 16:06

my own graduation present to myself was a trip to Florida this week.
and Florida was truly vacation, vacation, vacation.
i. was. in. heaven.

wednesday & thursday, i spent mucho time celebrating with ato's family for the pre-wedding parties: dancing ,singing, dressing up in beauuutiful dresses, and enjoying delicious loads of catered food.  got to see ozair & sameer and the rest of the family, especially the kids!!
on friday, lizette picked me up and we drove & drove to orlando to spend memorial day weekend in the happiest place on Earth!
Animal Kingdom on saturday was like a safari adventure!  we were exhauuusted @ the end of the day, but went to downtown disney to eat @ Gloria Estefan's restaraunt for hot music, cuban food + MoJiToS!
spent all day saturday at Universal Studios going on crazy rides and practically skipping all the lines.  we got to bum around and have food delivered to the villa where we ate, lay, ate some more and laid around some more.
spent the rest of the week w/atiya: chilled out @ South Beach for the view/water in the daytime and shopping @ nighttime, Gelato and people-watching on Lincoln Road, lotsa shopping in Coconut Grove and South Beach *again*, Lunched @ downtown Miami and Las Olas, went to the park and walked around Key Biscayne to see live fishes in the coral reefs, and of course, one could never forget the delicious cuban desserts in Little Havana.  I picked out loads of houses to live in-- mansions galores on Las Olas-- complete with my own yacht and port in the backyard.  And of course, a swimming pool + jacuzzi with those shnazzy nets.
Florida was soooooooooooo much fun, I can't believe that I changed my ticket to come home earlier.

I miss Florida already-- despite the really shady people in SoBe and the constant fear of being mugged by drag queens late @ night or being bombarded by those leopard-shirt wearing waiters @ Mango's on Ocean Blvd.  Aww, all those shady people remind me of Europe! Including the Mediterranean guitarist who played his music while his hair was 'billowing' in the wind as we ate our dinners on the beach. haha. the ultimate strange & 'exotic'.

Flew in LA this morning @ 11am and have been chillin' @ mom's workplace with the cousin.
i'm so tired it's not even funny.
i was disgustingly sick of airports this entire year, but now i am.. just used to it.

During the drive to Orlando last weekend, i counted all the flight trips I made this school-year:

1. August + May: My round trip tickets for senior yearing @ Smith.
2. October: Financial Analyst Interview on Wallstreet in NYC
3. November: 4-day Thanksgiving break
4. December: Christmas vacation for 2 weeks in LA And then thesising during J-term
5. January: 4-day interview @ University of Missouri-Columbia
6: February: 4-day interview @ University of Texas-Austin
7. February: 4-day interview @ University of Oregon
8. March: 2-day Spring Break in LA
9: March: 4-day SRA Conference in Frisco
10. April: 4-day visit @ University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
11. May: 2-day conference @ Stanford
12. June: Florida vacation.  a real. true. vacation. for. me. to RELAX.

and these are just plane rides during the weekends.  This is MINUS weekend-drives or visits like when we went to New Haven during October.  But I did get to miss LOTS and LOTS of school this year. Heheh.  And now... upcoming round trips include...

13. June: Taiwan.
14. July: China
15. July: Bangladesh?
15. August: Grad school

AHHHHHHHHH.. i miss Florida skies already.  and the beach.  the multicolored green/blue/teal ocean. the shopping. the eating out. the eating in. playing with zayd. eating ice cream and/or gelato. walking along the beach.
im not thaaat sad though. atiya is coming on Monday and we're doing all these things again. only, i'll be hosting her and we'll be in LA now. disneyLAND instead of disneyWORLD. SoCal beaches instead of South Florida beaches. Mexicans instead of Cubans (hahaha).

ohhh man. im too excited/overwhelmed/tired to continue writing.
