a real update on my life means having to explain why i've been going crazy these past 2 months-- maybe even longer than that-- deciding what to do with my life.  i love how college students, high school students-- basically someone like me at this age -- makes SUCH a big deal about post-college plans as if it were a life-or-death situation.  as if ( Read more... )

Hi cass baby,
don't worry too much! But who am i to talk? I'm the queen of worrying and of course we do! We're smithies-- it's in our nature! :)

Psychology at Smith is pretty amazing. For a school with 2,500 students, we have a really large & diverse faculty (18 profs)-- all of which specializing in one thing or another!
Let's see... which fun classes would I recommend? I'd say that you should definitely take upper level psychology courses since you've already experienced a few psych courses. Don't take research methods or stats or anything basic unless you decide to major in it. Take advanced classes like Adolescent development or a class on learning and behavior. I love all of the profs in the department... and you definitely cannot graduate from here without taking a class from Dave Palmer, who is the nicest and most amazing man IN. THE. WORLD. Everyone does well in the class, everyone loves him, and he looves all of his students. It's also a class that lets you work with pigeons in his lab and test their pecking behavior and lets you experiment with them. UBER FUN!
As for the intensity of the courses, they're actually pretty okay-- not too difficult because a lot of is based on common sense (e.g., adolescence is a turbulent time period because youths are beginning to establish their independence from family and they're more likely to be influenced by peers). You wouldn't even really have to STUDY too hard for a test because a lot of is based on experience, right? :) OK, well i hope i was helpful. Write back soon :) I'm SURE you'll get back in!!!
