So its been 2 weeks and a rather long 2 weeks at that, although I am enjoying myself immensely. My master teacher is wonderful, and my students are sweet. Tip: If you treat them with respect and as humans who matter, they will do the same with you. I have observed some not so great teachers who seem to hate their jobs and the students and the students hate them in return.
Anyway, most of the kids are from the inner city and bussed into Westwood. Great kids. I like middle school, they are so cute. The boys start looking at you kind of funny but then they bend over backwards to be sweet to you and smile and the girls all want to be your best friend. Every period I have about 3-5 girls tell me how cute my shoes are. Thanks girls, get back to work. And when you walk by them in the hall they greet you! "Hi Hi Ms...."
Emerson is putting on a production of Peter Pan and many of my 8th grade students are in it, and they are really good! The kids are so funny they keep inviting me to the play and to the cast party. Crazy kids. It's weird to think of how young and innocent they are, and the fact that I was just there 10 (or 9) years ago!
In addition, there is this older teacher who keeps hitting on me. Ugh. Go away. You are 44. I am 22! Can we say "No chance in hell?!"
