PLEASE.

On July 22/23, I'll be participating in a 20 mile walk from dusk until dawn to raise money and awareness for both suicide and depression. Check it out more here:

www.theovernight.org

To participate, I have agreed to raise $1000 for the event. I'm sincerely asking you guys and anyone you know to help out and donate. I really wouldn't ask if I didn't need it. Whether it's a quarter, $10, $100, or $500, it all helps. Everything donated goes straight to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Please, throw me a buck, and spread this around to your friends and family. You can donate right there online.

It's important, and without sounding trite, I know it's a personal cause/subject for probably a majority of people. If you aren't, you probably have known someone affected by depression or suicide. This isn't just for those suffering from depression or suicidal tendencies, but also for programs and help for their families and loved ones.

I recently lost someone very close to my family to suicide, and it hit me pretty hard to have this very real reminder that depression and suicide are not products of teenage angst and rebellion. The person I knew was 50, with a full family, spouse, and kids. This is real, and it's important.

You can sponsor me here: http://www.theovernight.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=extranet.personalpage&confirmid=10006236

(DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.)

If you'd be kind enough to spread the word to your friends and family (again, even a dollar helps a ton), I'd really appreciate it.

I'm not so confident I can raise $1,000 in a month, so if I don't reach my goal (or get close enough that I can close the gap) in the next few weeks, keep an eye out for some threads hawking the valuable stuff I've got: Some rare/signed AFI stuff, An Epiphone Les Paul Standard, Marshall MG 100DFX, and if it comes to it, my Tama Rockstar Customs.

As a final note: Please, please do not resort to snarky comments about depression or suicide. This is really not the appropriate time or place to do so, and it is disrespectful to both me, and the person I'm doing this for. Please don't do it.

Thanks guys.

EDIT: Even better than donating, If anyone would like to join me, you are more than welcome, and we can walk together. It's in San Francisco on the night of the 22nd at 7PM until the 23rd at 4:30AM when closing ceremonies begin. I'd be stoked if anyone is touched enough that they would like to particpate. It's only $35 to register if you're a full time student, and $75 if not. There's also en event on August 12/13 in Chicago.
