Today was the first decent day I've had since my birthday weekend. First trimester nausea, vomiting and exhaustion have made me absolutely miserable and unable to enjoy very much since then. But today I took a little time out for myself, got some fresh air and engaged in a little retail therapy that made me feel SO much better. Still threw up 3 times already today, but the good stuff balanced out feeling awful.

I went and spent 2.5 hrs getting my hair cut and highlighted. I hadn't done anything with my hair since June, and the neglect was showing badly. I just couldn't be bothered with my appearance, but looking badly while feeling badly was starting to get to me. So having someone work on my head, lightening my look (and wallet by $100), I came out of there a whole new person. Rather than crashing with an afternoon nap when I came home, I got Kyle and we went downtown for the rest of the day.

The weather is perfect, and with all the fall leaves changing colours, it's totally gorgeous outside. We lunched at the Cactus Club (terriaki chicken rice bowl, my fave) and then went car stereo shopping. My speakers have been blown for a while, so Kyle had promised to get me new ones for my birthday. And I decided to finally bite the bullet and replace my old stock stereo/useless casset player and get a CD/MP3 player. $300 later-- but well worth it to stretch out the life and enjoyment of my aging little Mazda. I spend half my work week in my car, so I might as well make my daily car time decent. The stereo place offered to put it in the stereo and speakers right away, so we buzzed home to get my car and brought it right in for installation. While that was happening we got some Starbucks and walked around the Inner Harbour, just soaking in the sunshine. We've made some good 'future plans' and just had a good time hanging out together. A really good day... Too bad I have another night shift at ESH tonight, and one tomorrow night. A great sleep would have topped my day off nicely. But can't have it all!
