Author's Notes: so, this is way overdue. i need to get my ass in gear, so i apologize to anyone who has been waiting for this. i'm also having the biggest writer's block of the fucking century, so i'm sorry if this sucks. BY THE WAY, ALL TIME LOW WAS FUCKING FANTASTIC LAST MONDAY. i posted all about it in my tumblr. :) so, here's chapter four!
my tumblr! master post! All Jack wanted to do, really, was stand up to his father and tell him a simple "no", so he didn't have to go through with this. Even though he was going to be living in a nice place, getting fed properly, and getting clothed properly, he still did not want to do this. It's not that he didn't want to support his family, it was just that he would barely get to see them now. And maybe another reason, just maybe, was the teenage boy who also lived inside that house. Jack didn't even want to think about it; he had been so rude to the boy.
Jack wanted to tell his father that he would work two, or three, or even four jobs to make ends meet.
But, unfortunately, he was Jack Barakat, and Jack Barakat only did things to please others, never himself. So, he watched as his father knocked on the Gaskarths' door, ready and willing to hand his son off to a man he barely knew.
"Mr. Barakat! Come in!" Peter Gaskarth greeted as he opened the door, briefly shaking Jack's father's hand before looking at the other boy. "And you must be Jack!"
Jack nodded, taking his hat off the top of his head and placing it under his right arm. "Yes sir, it's a pleasure to meet you," Jack told him, shaking the man's hand.
Peter Gaskarth stepped aside, letting the two inside of his house. Jack picked up his two suitcases, holding them and waiting for further instruction from his new boss.
"My son, Alexander, will be down shortly to show you where your room will be, and where everything around the house is." Jack nodded as he looked around the living area. Needless to say, the house was huge. It was nothing like he had ever seen before.
"Ah, Alexander! Will you be so kind as to show Jack around the house while Mr. Barakat and I sign a few papers?" Mr. Gaskarth's booming voice immediately broke Jack out of his thoughts. Soon, Jack turned around to give his attention to the other teenage boy. Alex simply nodded at his father, before looking at Jack and smirking at the boy.
----------------------------
"This is our guest bedroom, where you'll be sleeping...I think."
"You think?" Jack asked as he placed his suitcases against the wall.
Alex shrugged. "We have like, three guest bedrooms. I wasn't listening when my dad told me which one."
"Oh."
"Anyways, since I guess you're our maid-"
"Butler."
"Maid, butler, same difference. Anyways, I request that call me Mr. Alexander. I like that name. Also, call me 'sir' when I address you." By the way that Alex was smirking, Jack just knew that it was a sort of payback for how he had disrespected him just a short while ago during their encounter on the street. He had a burning desire to roll his eyes and scoff at the other boy, he resisted. Alex, rather 'Mr. Alexander', was his boss now, and he had to obey him.
"Are we clear, Jack?" Alex asked, the cockiness evident in his voice and the smirk still on his face.
Jack nodded once. "Yes, sir."
Alex beamed at him once more before walking to the doorway of Jack's new room. "I'm glad you know who I am now, Jack," Alex spoke with a turn of his head and that cocky smirk on his face once more. Before Jack could even reply, Alex was gone.
With a sigh, Jack plopped down onto his new, comfortable bed. He shook his head, a small smile on his face. Even though Alex was now making it a mission to humiliate him, something about the other boy intrigued Jack. He just couldn't figure out what it was for the life of him, though.
