I have just finished reading Type & Layout written by sir Colin Wheildon. And while most of the things in this book are common sense to an art director, what I liked about this book is it wasn't just someone in the biz telling you what they think--it's someone in the biz that conducted actual research with readers to prove these findings. So I started reading Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything" as via your older post about reading. It's awesome.

And thanks for the numbers. I think there are about what, 4 people on your friends list that actually read this entire post. :P

Awesome facts, Suz. Thanks for posting. Sorry Portrait of the Artist sucked as much for you as it did for me! haha. If you want a good character-driven read, pick up Fall on Your Knees by Anne-Marie MacDonald.
