Welcome Faculty, Parents, and Fellow Graduates,
I'm sure you're all farmiliar with the story 'The Three Little Pigs'. I have related this childhood story to our years at Culver City Middle School. As sixth graders, we were much like the first house made of straw. We were weak and easily intimidated. Some things were so overwhelming, we would just collapse, just like the house of straw.
As we move on to seventh grade, we're more experienced and a little more prepared for things that may come our way. But, just like the second house made of sticks, there were still some obstacles and some glitches in our plan for surviving the seventh grade. Although we can withstand more things than we could in 6th grade, there are still those things that shake us up and knock us down. So we sit here wondering if things could get any worse and just hoping things would get better.
Now, here we are. Finally eigth graders. At this point, we're very much like the third house made of bricks. Strong and expecting the unexpected. Just waiting for that huge gust of wind to blow by, knowing that our foundation is solid. This gust of wind could be disguised as a school bully, a tough final, or even peer pressure froma so-called friend. But most of us have learned our lessons, and learned them well.
Now, as we move on to high school, all we can do is hope that the big bad wolf doesn't come and blow our house down. Thank You.
