Rumours

I heard a rumour that it was Halloween last night. Probably wasn't true, but I decided to watch some horror all the same.

On the menu was:

A Bucket of Blood
The House on Haunted Hill (original)
The Bat
The Amityville Curse (oh yes, it's a total rip off movie that I picked up for a quid)
Bride of the Monster

Unfortunately, due to DVD player breakdown turmoil, I was left with a choice of the films on the Horror Channel or my VHS collection.
After seeing the shite the former had to offer (Sacred Flesh FFS?), it was up to my trusty videos to help me through the night.

I dug out Freddy vs Jason for a bit of a larf, but after five minutes I remembered that the quality is less than poor (that's what you get for buying pirate copies). I eventually went with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and enjoyed it thoroughly. It's been a few years since I last saw it, so it was long overdue a viewing. Truly sublime.

Not quite the horror film marathon I'd originally hoped for, but still enjoyable. I had started to watch A Bucket of Blood, which is a random '60s horror in black and white. But yeah, the DVD player fucked up after about 10 minutes. It looked quite interesting too - and very funny (without intending to be, I presume). Ah well, I'll watch it another time.

And finally, on a horror theme, here is the complaint I sent to my local cinema with regards to Saw II:

"I think it's quite outrageous that you have completely blanked the release of Saw II this weekend. When it is Halloween weekend and a clever and genuinely gruesome horror movie is released, you expect your local cinema to show the film. Alas, we're left with Wallace and Gromit, Shark Boy and Lava Girl (which has been out since sometime in 1987!) and a film called Nightwatch that no-one has even heard of.

All of my friends from other towns have been able to see this film, as their local cinema screened the film on the day of release. I expect you'll be screening it next year sometime? No wonder people resort to pirate copies!"
