As many of you may know, during freshman year, I had an addiction to hair dye. mmm...that chemical aroma and the stinging of the scalp. At the end of freshman year, I became determined to go back to my natural color, which diminished my cravings. Still, all through Sophomore year, I had to be monitored and sometimes restrained in the supermarket when near the hair dye aisle.
Well, I got bored again, so I sought out red henna, the natural plant that temporarily dyes one's hair for 4-6 weeks without chemically damaging the hair proteins. Its application was a two man job; my mom assisted me. The short of the story is that the harmless powder became an uncontainable swamp-like substance. Soon enough, the substance coated the bathroom and threatened to dye the toilet and sink orangish red. Needless to say, using the eco-friendly henna required so many pairs of plastic gloves and sheets of paper towels that it became self-defeating.
Oh yeah, henna can also dye skin, so ignore my orange patches.
All and all, I like my current hair color (reddish, auburnish, maybe?), but I do not recommend hair henna. I have no idea how people in East Asia and the Middle East regularly use this product, unless they do it outdoors, I guess.
