Not In Portland

  • New episode airs, rumors abound. Lost spoilers if you haven't seen the episode.

Juliet flashback, we find out how she got to the island, etc. Alex is Ben's daughter... possibly. Time for rumor discussion.

The first theory that I'm not too fond of is the idea what Juliet has some kind of "powers." Other characters are known or suspected to have some kind of supernatural powers, such as Desmond or Walt. But I don't get that vibe from Juliet's story. Yes, her sister does get pregnant, and yes, her ex does get hit by a bus, but I think those are both coincidences. Usually, Lost producers make it pretty clear when that want us to believe characters have powers. IU don't get that from Juliet.

One better theory is about the 26-year-old woman whose womb looks like it is 70. Juliet sees pictures of the womb, and the theory believe that this woman is on the island. Mittelos, the company that is looking to hire Juliet, can be anagrammed to "lost time." It appears this woman has certainly lost time, about 44 years worth. Can it be that time is moving strangely on the island? One of the Dharma experiments was life extension, as shown in the Lost Experience. Joop, an orangutan, was made to live to 105. What if this woman was a human experiment that went wrong, so they hired Juilet, a fertility doctor, to discover why? Or, alternately, this woman was on the island, where time was made to move differently, but once she was off the island, she aged incredibly? In any case, this idea of time is probably going to be further discussed very soon on Lost.

Another theory I don't like is that Ben is Rachel's son (Rachel is Juliet's sister). This has all kinds of problems with it. Even if time is moving differently, it seems highly improbable and pretty dumb for Ben to look like he is around 40 in around three years. Improbable indeed.

I may post more later, I have a class now. Discuss at will.
