Hurricane Katrina is such a horrible disaster. It's also making evident some of the many flaws of this country. Racism, Bush, poverty, Bush, government....and not to mention Bush, who is not taking the most action he can to try and evacuate and help the victims of the hurricane. he just decides to leave all those decisions to other officials, who ( Read more... )

"if he hadn't gone into iraq he could have spent money fixing the levies"

the people had known that the levies were bad for the longest time. why didn't they fix them then? hmmm...

"he didn't send in people to evacuate early on."

not his job. that job belongs to the governor and mayor. besides, they had known for a long time that the hurricane was coming and that they needed to get out. so why didn't that POS mayor of theirs order buses before hand?

"he's not sending in any military support."

he hadn't sent any military support in there... simpy because the mayor didn't ask the governor who therefore didn't ask the president. extra troops are not allowed to go in and help without being asked to first... which they hadn't been.

"they aren't getting buses in there to help evac operations."

it doesn't help that all help trying to get to the evacuees at both the super dome (or whatever it's called) and the convention center are being shot at by snipers. the snipers are shooting police and fire fighters, anyone who tries to get in OR out, and justr about everything that moves.

Ok then it's the mayors and the governers fault too, but Bush even apologized yesterday for not helping sooner, which means he realized that he could have and should have done more earlier on. And plus, don't say that "it wasn't his job to do this and that" because he still could have helped even if that was true. Was it Jesse Jackson's job to send 3 buses in to evacuate students from Xavier University and then to send the buses back to evacuate more people over and over again? I don't think so....
