Another wonderful book in the series. This one follows Kushiel's Scion, and continues Imriel's story through life.
It's mostly a coming-of-age sort of novel. But better. And Imriel's old habits that made a lot of people angry at him are changed, so now he's a pretty cool character.
The story has a bunch of tragedies, lots of happy parts, some suspense and adventure; the gigantic combination of genres that one comes to expect with these books.
And most importantly, it ends happily. And, it ends in such a way that you CAN stop there, and not read the next book (which there is one, by the way). You can also read the next book, and there is enough time and events left that it will have a good story and plot.
In short, this book is very good. Not quite as epic as the first three books, but it still has that deeply satisfying feel to it that all the others have.
