Day 2: Physics Detainment

Jul 19, 2005 23:10

Thank you for all the comments, everyone! I really appreciate them...keep them up! I will reply to them ASAP.

This morning, Autumn woke me up, and after quickly showering and eating some breakfast, I came back to my room to read the Physics experiment we were doing today. That was pretty quick, then I answered the pre-lab questions, which weren't too bad at all. I actually knew them...*mental shock*.

I headed over to the physics lab where Autumn and I built our egg-drop contraption. We decided to combine our ideas...she wanted to extend the time period (crumple zone) before impact killed the egg, and I wanted to make the momentum small enough by slowing down velocity (parachute). For those of you who didn't take physics, well, it's ok, I really don't know what I'm talking about either.

After building our contraptions, we headed over to Ascension, and some people went up on top of the roof with the physics professor. I stayed down because I wanted to be the first to estimate the condition of our egg.

Our egg survived! I'm a physics genius! FUCK YOU COLLEGEBOARD! MY EGG SURVIVED!

Ok, ok, I'm gonna be calm. I'm no physics genius...heck, I'm no genius for that matter, but my egg survived, bitches. I deserve at LEAST a 2 on the mechanics part.

After that, we headed to lunch. After lunch, I called Phil, and I got through to him! It was a miracle, honestly. He was waiting in the lobby to leave the hospital, so I told him I'd call him later.

We headed down in vans to the Kokosing River for this river study thing we were doing...the environmental center is pretty kickass down there...if you guys come visit me, make sure it's at the end of my school year so we can have a campfire and get drunk off our asses. I'm just kidding about the latter...we can make s'mores!

I waded in the water with Shaunda, and we found tiny fish...a few people caught crayfish and a water beetle...it was kind of cool to watch them fight in the little tubs we set out. After some more wading, we headed back to main campus (this place is about a mile away from where my dorm is).

I called Phil after that, talked to him for awhile, had dinner, then I think I just chilled in my room for awhile, read, and called Phil later after that. My phone card ran out, so I had to run down to the bookstore and get another one. IDIOTS, it says you've got 1000 minutes and you really don't.

During my phone call though, our group had a meeting...so Yancy asked our RA for alcohol, and now she's getting some. I didn't want any, so I didn't pitch money, and I will not be getting drunk this weekend. Or even a little tipsy, for that matter...it should be fun to watch though.

That's it, I'll update about more later. Shower time!

And yes, I still miss you all dearly.
