While heading out to get breakfast and run some errands today, I slipped on a stone while cutting through the park, twisted my ankle and skid a little ways downhill. You'd think I'd be most upset about the ankle, but let's face it: I hurt the damn thing all the time anyway, so that bit's pretty routine by now. No, what pisses me off is that during my skid, since the sidewalk I was on was very gritty/rocky (clearly), a stone tore a hole in the sleeve of my winter coat. But not just in the sleeve--it went all the way through the lining *and* my shirt, and gave me a nice deep gash on my elbow. The elbow hurts (though the worst bit was when BJ had to pick out the gravel with my pocket knife), but I'm most annoyed about the coat. I mean, winter's almost over, but I'll probably still need a warm coat for a few more weeks. So do I go out now and hope that I can find a store that still has some winter coats in stock, or do I just try to patch up my old one and get through the next few weeks, then get a new coat in the fall? Damn it. I liked that coat, too. It was very warm, and long enough to cover my ass, which is a necessity when you spend as much time waiting at bus stops as I do. Probably won't be so warm with the hole in the lining. Oh well. At least the shirt was on its way out anyway.
My ankle doesn't hurt much now, but I suspect that's more a side effect of the painkillers and the whiskey than anything else. Sigh.
