Spring break has finally made its long anticipated arrival. Even though I am busier than ever this week, at least it isn't class.

Our school had its 35th annual "Popcorn Forum" which was entitled "Hot Talks and Passionate Debates." I was asked to speak on a response panel regarding the Patriot Act and was able to listen to many other panels including topics on same-sex marriage, privacy vs. the public's right to know, the second amendment and free speech on college campuses. After spending nearly three and a half hours a day at these debates and four missed classes, I am even more aware of how unwelcome conservative voices are on our campus. Eh... nothing knew for this young republican.

...I fell in love twice this week. This skeptic of love at first sight, has witnessed the glory of instantaneous romance. The first encounter occurred at the library. As I was furiously completing my lab assignment, I heard, "Excuse me, can I get underneath you?" Uh... Well, as it turns out, his backpack was underneath my chair. After reaching under me and brushing my legs, he looked up and caught my eyes and gave me a grin that melted me. I'm not sure if it was his shaggy hair, intense jaw line, or the intellectual look he possessed, but at any rate I was left with a really good feeling.

My second love at first sight occurred at Starbucks. There was a convention for The Rocky Mountain Academy (an academy wealthy parents send their troubled kids to...apparenlty Rod Stewart's daughter was enrolled) at the resort and I could tell by the name tag, that he was one of the "troubled" students. Ok, I know that the questions are already arising in your head. Who scopes out high schoolers? Who scopes out obviously troubled guys? On and on. Well he gave me that same clutching look that gets me every single time. I almost felt inclined to ask him what he was doing later that night, but then reality came back and I realized that is insanely creepy of me. Oh well. At least these strangers made me smile.

...I went running tonight in the rain. There is something so intimate about the rain that I cannot understand. I was able to celebrate my King's resurrection more intense running in the cold, dark, wet night, than any church service has ever offered me. What a beautiful day.
