ESPN is conducting a college football poll that matches up the top 11 National Champions of all time against 2005 USC in what can only be described as a free for all vote-a-thon. Starting from #11 espn and their college football experts give their analysis and final scores. Today matched the number 8 team, the 1997 Michigan Wolverines. One "expert" had USC winning 49-14, the other gave a more "respectable" 34-17 USC win
Before any analysis is given, I think to myself...
USC has yet to win the national title this year... in the world of sport, nothing can be taken for granted. Already ESPN is stating USC is the seventh best national champion of ALL TIME before they take the field.

Any fan of the 1985 Bears would notice one glaring exception, there are no defensive stats other than points per game allowed. So ESPN has decided to throw away the most dominate defense in college football's modern era...
Never-mind the fact that Michigan allowed 215 yards a game, and don't even pay attention to Michigan allowing 105 passing yards per game (least allowed by any squad since team statistics were logged back in 1957)
While I will not dispute Michigan losing in this game because USC has the most dominate offense in college football history, the last time I checked with Mike Ditka he has this to say-
offense wins games, defense wins championships.
so why would espn only discuss offense in this match-up?

Also, without IV's vast collection of SI's I would not have known that Illinois is passing a legislation declaring the 1985 Chicago Bears as the greatest football team ever.
If granholm wants some positive publicity I suggest she declares the same
