I went back and re-read Breakfast of Champions last year and really found it to be lacking. On the other hand, I got a lot more out of Slaughter-House Five when I read it again last year than I did when I read it in high school.
I just felt the same way about the Great Gatsby. I was touched by how poetic the entire book was, especially the last sentence..."So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." I feel like I should go back and reread a lot of the classics I read for a grade in order to truly appreciate them.
