Hell just froze over!

I guess that Hell just froze over. We have a NON-WHITE american president! Honestly, I didn't think this would happen during my lifetime and I'm only 28. This is really something!
I'm just curious whether Obama will really withdraw the soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan in 16 months as he advertised. I really hope he will not. Because if he does, the islamist extremist and Taliban leaders will present it to their combatatnts in a way "we managed to drive the American Satan Army off our soil". They would simply win. And all those thousands american soldiers would have died for nothing. The saddest thing is that the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan has been actually improving last 6 months or so. All this progress undone and wasted... too painful to think of.
But I'm not going to condemn Obama before we actually see how good or bad he rules. Who knows? Maybe we will all be surprised how good he will be. Ronald Reagan managed to win the Cold War and he was just an actor!
Oh and BTW, in my country, a LOT of people think that Obama is going to be assassinated soon. There are MANY similarities between him and both JFK and RFK, so many people somehow figured that Obama will share their fate too...

I can tell you, I'd much rather be completely wrong about the man and swallow my pride. Maybe he'll go down as the most popular, level-headed president in the history of the U.S. Time will tell, but my prediction is that he will not be elected for a second term.
And I, too, hope that he doesn't pull troops out of Iraq. They're doing a tremendous job over there, and even if we've spent too much money and (sadly) lost many lives, in the long run it was worth it to quell such an unstable part of the world. Call the U.S. the World Police if you like, but hell, if we're good at stabilizing countries, I say we stick with it. Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand sure didn't complain when we rushed to their aid after that massive tsunami in 2004.
Honestly, having a non-white president doesn't surprise me at all. Things here in the U.S. have been quite progressive lately--in my opinion, TOO progressive, but that's an entirely different matter. My base opinion on Obama's nomination was merely strategy. The Democrats knew that many people would vote for him simply because he is partly black (although they won't admit it) and took advantage of it. It was a smart move.
I've heard a lot of people say they think Obama may be assassinated. Already one assassination plan concocted by neo-Nazi skinheads has been thwarted. I may not like the man but I don't want him dead, so those skinheads can drop dead.
