Water Aerobics Class #1
Hello everyone! For those of you who haven't met me yet, my name is Ms. Misty, and I'm going to be your water aerobics teacher! I'm very excited to meet all of you, and I hope that you all come to like me as your teacher.
Anyway, on with class. I hope you guys bought you swim-suits. If not, I have some extras, so no need to worry. This being my first class and all, I'm going to try and be a bit lean. I know that some of you are a bit restless due to the heat and just want to get in the pool to cool off. So, as long as you complete my activity then I will allow you to have free time in the pool. Sound like a deal? I'll try to do this with every class, but it'll depend on how much time it takes to complete that class's activity... So if you goof off or waste time, then you won't be able to have your free time.
Like I said, being my first class I want this to be simple so you can have some time to play. So then, the first activity will be some deep breathing exercises. By expanding your lungs you can hold more oxygen, and thus hold your breath under water longer. This will also help when I have you swim laps, since you're going to need to push yourself against the pull of the water, making your heart beat faster and it harder to breathe. That's why it's called water AEROBICS! This might sound like hard work, but trust me, once you hit the water you'll be having one of the most extraordinary times of your life.
I want you to do this ten times, alright guys? This is going to be one of our daily warm-ups from now on. Feel your lungs fill up with air, then slowly release. Take this nice and slow...
