As soon as Bulba had called him, Raikov set out to the hospital. He was furious with what he'd been told. After constant reminding of what happened to him while Volgin was dead, that still wasn't enough...?! Oh, he was going to give Volgin a piece of his mind.

The angry Russian shoved the door open to Volgin's hospital room, (after badgering a nurse with questions and then ignoring her as she tried to stop him) eyes narrowed and teeth grit.

"YEVGENY."

A shame the angry call of his name was among one of the most wonderful things Volgin had heard. When Raikov came upon the bandaged giant (who could have been auditioning for a role as The Mummy), he was still managing to pull the irritated whorl of now torn scars on his face into one of the sunniest rictuses.

"Ivan," his voice strained, his Russian a pathetic mewl. "/Beautiful Ivan... You're alive! I thought I had killed you!/"

Despite Volgin's appreciation for seeing his lover, Raikov was not impressed.

"/What did I tell you?! WHAT. DID. I SHOW. YOU? Do those scars mean nothing to you?! I told you I wanted to live in peace! Why did you pick a fight with another Pokémon?!/"

Volgin clicked his teeth, authentic confusion crossing his expression over the welt of fear knotting up in his stomach.

"/I did what?/"

"/Marie, Red's Squirtle. Bulba filled me in on what happened./" He huffed, promptly ploping down in the chair next to Volgin's bed.

"/What about them?/" Volgin was growing uneasy with rising anger, defying even the pain in his ribs. God, his ribs! It was not that often electroshock was bad enough that he broke something.

Meanwhile, the good part of his face curled into a sneer; if there was anything good to be said about the scarring, it was that it diverted whatever self-shock or other shock from the still living swaths of skin. He was bleeding, sore from what ruptured open to what still lived beneath, but for the most part, the pain was tolerable.

"/Does this have anything to do with that wretched frog-beast?/"

"/Vinnie? No. Bulba found you and Marie lying in a puddle of water and blood. I want to know why you did that./"

Volgin twitched. What the hell?

"/I don't remember anything./" Maybe Raikov could have found the fear lacing the words; lightning was an unpredictable beast, even for a skilled manipulator like Volgin (and being of a species that usually fantasized about the ability, at best). "/I don't even remember where that even happened. I was lying in bed with you, then I was here./

"/That's all I know!/"

It was unusual to hear fear in Volgin's voice. It seemed to calm Raikov down a bit though. He slouched in his seat, raising an eyebrow. "... I can't imagine Marie dragging you out of bed and beating the shit out of you. Do you think... it was your electricity?"

Raikov knew the dangers of his lover's powers. That's why he never over-used it during sex. It could affect his memory.

And Volgin knew all too well.

"I could not tell you if I was provoked. I don't remember anything. I..."

A grunt, as Volgin shuffled, wincing in pain.

"You could check my network history. Do you remember my login credentials? Check my phone at home, too."

That meant being alone for a time, listening to his ragged breathing, but any accident that could have potentially killed someone more of value to the giant was worth looking into. It was better a flare up took out of the many pokemon than Raikov; he could care less about what became of this "Marie", other than the backlash it might have caused...

...

"Ivan, are you going to be safe alone?"

Raikov frowned. Safe... This is why he had warned Volgin so much.

"I honestly don't know. I didn't see how bad Marie was..."

He was scared. A half of year's work down the drain. He doubted he'd ever be able to patch things up with Team Red now.

"I do have Katya though..."

Volgin's voice was firm, his expression grave: "Would that be enough? That tiny bug? Against the dragon and the frog?"

The frog-monster did not seem very bothered by electricity either; he distinctly remembered nearly cooking his own innards trying to hurt the creature last time.

"... Probably not. I don't even know what level they're all at...."

His shoulder slumped. He was powerless.. aside for his gun. But he didn't want to use that again.

"They're high levels?" Volgin was still stumped on this whole "level" business; as far as he knew, levels did not matter when the target was staring down the cold barrel of a loaded Dragunov a moment too late.

A puff:

"Use your gun if you have to. We can run away together if they have any problems with its authority."

Raikov looked down, his hair hiding his eyes. "... I told you, I don't want to run away."

Volgin's tone recovered its usual authoritative barbs. "Then stay here and let me live with the risk of those things harming you?"
