".....is it going to be like last year?" Sonny asked Red quietly, remembering that horrible couple of months that Sasha and Vinnie spent recouperating and everyone being completely miserable. Of course, he wasn't sure how much of that series of events Red even remembered, being his memory was apparently hazy. Really, all he wanted was a little assurance that things were going to be better this time. That Marie was OK, and that things were going to get back to normal quickly.

This situation was eating him from the inside out. All he could do was put a hand on Sonny's shoulder and grasp it tightly.

Marie was still unconscious at the time. The nurses had wrapped a gauze bandage around his head, where he had bumped himself when his head had hit the pavement earlier. The ends of his hair had been singed slightly, but it had been cut away, leaving him with a shorter, messier haircut. Other than that, the boy didn't appear too worse for wear...

....hopefully that wasn't going to be permanent.

But now, Marie.
"..."
Deep breath. Time to wait until he entered the conscious world of his own accord.

"... fucking bastards." The Pikachu silently muttered.

In his weird half-uconscious half-asleep state, Marie heard his teammates talking. They sounded distant, as if they were in another room. Their talking slowly began to stir the young Squirtle. In response to his trainer, Marie let out an uncharacteristically low-pitched gurgle. His eyes opened ever-so-slightly and he looked for his trainer.
He felt pretty embarrassed, seeing his teammates looking back at him as his eyes glanced over the room.

It wasn't much to say, but the releif it conveyed was probably palpable. Seeing him wake up was reassuring and it felt like a weight had been lifted from Sonny's shoulders. However, he stayed where he was, sure that the others would prefer to get in and coddle him first.
