That thing... dove right into one of the bags as Volgin entered. She had meant to jump for his head but missed it completely. Oh well. There was food.

Raikov looked up from his laptop and smiled a bit. "Welcome back."

Hardly the most dignified greeting, but Volgin was trying to fish the Joltik out of his haul. He growled over the crinkle of the bag.

"I was going to make varenyky tonight. If the bug doesn't... eat anything I was going to use!"

Aha, think he had it! He pulled something up.

Katya was indeed on the item... and jumped on top of Volgin's head. She didn't do anything else, just sat there.

"Varenyky?" Raikov replied. "It's been a while since we've had that..!"

Grrk! Volgin stumbled back out of sheer surprise, but luckily caught himself before he could trash the newest coffee table. "I demonstrated in class recently. You were busy that day, remember?"

He was very slowly bringing a hand up there to probe at the bug.

"I was not going to let you ... help me grade what was made by my students."
