Blind Dates A Tables

What: BLIND DATES!
Who: Anyone who was sent a note with A table number.
Where: Off-campus restaurant. AND BEYOND!
When: September 30th, 2011
Warnings: Who knows depending who is here.

Why was he doing this again?

Oh right, Parakarry severely needed experience in dating and just plain talking to cute girls as evidenced by how he had yet to call any of the five or six phone numbers in his girl-a-dex despite the fact that he and Knuckles had gone to that club months ago.

At the very least he had volunteered this time around instead of being signed up behind his back.

He tugged on the end of his napkin, his stomach already feeling queasy from nervousness.

Blaze really didn't like the idea of blind dates, or dates at all. She was thinking about meeting new people, trying to make friends while she was here. But she had to work up a lot of nerve before she could finally do it. She wasn't sure what to make of the guy sitting at the table when she arrived. She didn't say anything at first, simply taking her seat. "Um... hello," she quietly said.

"Ah," The jittery mailman promptly stopped prodding at his napkin to look at the girl sitting across him.

"Oh...hello," he replied while cracking a timid smile. "My name's Parakarry. It's nice to meet you uh..."

"I run a delivery store on campus," he replied quietly while mindlessly glancing at the menu.

He shyly scratched the back of his shirt collar. "And you?"

"I, uh..." Okay how best to say it so she doesn't sound like she's bragging or boasting or anything. Gotta make a good impression. "I'm... a student right now... While I'm away from home..."

"Another dimension, I see." Parakarry mumbled before he fully realized what she had just said.

"Another...dimension?" He stared at Blaze with eyes wide as saucer plates.

Blaze looked embarrassed and looked away from him. "I told you it was strange," she reminded him.

"Oh n-n-no!" Parakarry stammered, feeling pretty embarrassed himself now. "I believe you."

Seeing how kooky Final Destination City was in the time and space department, he found her story entirely plausible. He wrung his hands and looked down. He didn't want to put Blaze on the spot but Parakarry was growing more curious now.

"So...how's this dimension of yours like if I may ask?"

She started playing with a napkin. She was already feeling awkward, and now she felt bad for seemingly putting him on the defensive, even if that wasn't really the case. She just tried to force herself to keep going.

"It's very similar to this one," she explained. "Many different people, and places are different. It's a little hard to describe, really... Imagine a world just like your own, except different in a number of very subtle ways."

Different in subtle ways...

Parakarry thought of the Mushroom Kingdom. He wondered if any place like Toad Town existed in Blaze's dimension and if so, how was it be different to the Toad Town he knew. Did the Toads look or behave differently? Did they have a princess like Peach ruling over them too? Did they like mushrooms?

His gaze shifted from his hands toward Blaze and started getting the nagging feeling that it was best not to delve deeper into this topic.

Quietly, he fixated his eyes on his already open menu, worried that he may of rubbed Blaze the wrong with their entire conversation.

Oh thank goodness, a topic change!

"Well, I've been living here for a few years now," he explained. "But originally I come from the Mushroom Kingdom. Toad Town to be exact. Despite being the capital, it's a quaint little town."
