Oh god.

Why.

This is terrible.

Flint is resisting every urge to run away right now.

Sorry, Flint. It's about to get worse.

This whole blind date thing happened too often for Blacky to bother getting all flustered over it, and from what little she remembered about them, nothing really came of them. At least she would get some free food, though whether or not any of it would actually taste like anything to her remained to be seen.

Although when she saw just who her date would be for the night, maybe it would be a little better AND worse than expected.

"Fancy seeing you here." She seated herself, taking a quick glance at the menu. Ha ha wow good thing it was free after all.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU.

"Uh, hi." Flint was a man of many words. In his head, though, he was thinking Wasn't this supposed to be random why does this keep happening to me well at least it's not another guy "Nice night, isn't it?"

"Mmhm. I'm glad it wasn't set for the morning, or I might have had to stand you up." She slid the menu to the center of the table with a grin. "Of course I'm sure you would have preferred that. I don't think anyone voluntarily signs up for these."

"I wasn't really looking forward to this, no." Flint stared at the menu for lack of anything else to do. "...How have you been?"

A half second after that left his mouth, he realized that maybe wasn't a great question to ask a ghost.

That was a terrible question. But Blacky would humour him. As it was, things could be a lot worse. "I've been getting by. I remember a lot more than I did." She clasped her hands together and rested her chin on top of him, regarding him thoughtfully.

"I remember you..." How once upon a time she would have been overjoyed at this little twist of fate. Now it was just darkly humourous. "I remember we used to spend a lot more time together, once. Rather, I bothered you more."

"You remembered." Flint said flatly. He was silent for a minute. He wanted to be sure the next thing he said wasn't a dumb question. "I didn't really know what to say. After you... came back, that is."

He was handling this about as well as any cowboy in a fancy restaurant would. I.E. not at all.

"No, that's alright. Nobody should be expected to be prepared for when someone comes back from the grave with total amnesia. Sorry for all the trouble that caused. All the trouble I was in life as well."

Most of all, she was sorry she was the one who came back when she knew Flint had other people he would have probably much rathered see return.

She gave a quick gesture to her untouched menu. "Go ahead and order whenever you want, by the way. This isn't my preferred fare these days."

He couldn't help but think he had completely insulted her. "Don't say that. You don't have to be sorry."

Even though it was true, the thought had crossed his mind that if Blacky could come back, why not certain other people? He tried to push that thought out of his head and stared at the menu. He briefly considered asking her what ghosts ate, but figured he had made enough of an ass of himself already. "We could go somewhere else if you want."

"Somewhere else to eat? Anything you would prefer. I don't mind the atmosphere here, and I could probably enjoy a bit of fancy dessert." She flipped the menu over to see if there was indeed dessert. Ooh, brownies.

"If you're not hungry either, we could go somewhere else entirely. For a walk, or to the movies, or..." Blacky trailed off. She was really grasping at straws, wasn't she? "Just spend some time together, I suppose."

"This place is too fancy for me." That was a good excuse, right? "I could use some fresh air. The park sound okay?"

"Yes!" She stood up a little too eagerly, almost knocking her chair over in the process. Luckily she caught the back in time and steadied it, grimacing in embarrassment.

"Ah... Goodness, that was a little... er..." AHEM. "I would love to."

Flint, in contrast, stood up very slowly and apprehensively. What had he gotten himself into?

"Right, then. Shall we?"

((FAST FORWARD TO THE PARK Y/N?))

AND SO THEY WENT.

It was a nice thing that as the days got shorter and colder, the park was nearly deserted by this time of night. Even better that Blacky herself couldn't feel the cold anymore, or she would have probably started complaining the moment they stepped outside.

She kicked at a dead leaf in her path, sighing quietly. "Winter is coming." For some reason the phrase made her feel SUPER SERIOUS and also slightly MEDIEVAL. "Thinking of any holiday plans yet?"
