Even though Paula had many friends who comforted her after Wave's departure, she still felt lonesome. The older girl had left an awfully big hole in Paula's heart. Try as she did to put on a smile for everyone else, she still missed Wave.
But it was better not to dwell on the negatives. It was always in her nature to be optimistic. So she was going to do her best. She decided to be social, reading a girly fashion magazine in the common room. Maybe she'd see one of her other friends and could spend some time with them. At least, she that was the plan.
