Tactics and Strategy 004

Mar 23, 2011 19:09

Who: Hawke and YOU.
What: Tactics and Strategy.
When: Wednesday, March 23rd, sundown.
Where: Da forest.
Warnings: LASER GUNS.

[Today, at normal Tactics and Strategy time, there is a note on Hawke's classroom door that instructs all enrolled to meet by the edge of the forest behind the teacher's dorms at 6 PM, an hour before sunset. Did you have plans tonight? Too bad, you're coming to class. Hawke is standing there patiently, waiting for you.]

[He checks his watch, and begins at 6 PM sharp.]

Today's class is on terrain tactics. More often than not, the ground you fight on is just as important as how you fight. Favorable or unfavorable terrain can win or lose a battle.

You will have one hour to explore the forest. When the hour is up, you will report back to me and receive a laser tag vest and gun.

At sunset, it is every man for his or herself in the forest. You may consider forming partnerships or teams, but make alliances wisely. The vest records both how many of your shots hit a mark and how many hits you have taken. If you are hit, your gun will not function for thirty seconds. No one can be eliminated from the game, but the vest's recordings will obviously tell me who was the most successful in this endeavor. We will reconvene after another hour.

The mud, underbrush, bushes, rocks, vines, trees, and wildlife you will find in the forest can work for you or against you. Keep in mind, also, that time of day is also a form of terrain, and you might find that the forest looks completely different under cover of dark. Use all of these elements to your advantage. Think about your individual strengths and weaknesses, and how you can best use the terrain.

Your hour starts now.
