There was no need for Uxie to push his way through the areas where time had distorted. He, after all, could teleport. In moments, a single golden light appeared, lilting cry echoing.

Call for Mesprit, breathed his instincts, Azelf must be here. But he held back. He'd given his word that he would try to protect Mesprit. Surely she would also sense what was going on, and find her way to Dialga sooner or later, but he woudn't hasten that if it could be helped. Azelf... he couldn't call for Azelf, either. The fact that Azelf was far away was their one insurance against Cyrus; even in these desperate circumstances, Uxie was reluctant to allow the chance for Team Galactic to track the final lake spirit.

So he stood alone. One lake spirit couldn't fully control Dialga, and Uxie certainly wasn't one for fighting; though prepared to defend himself, he lacked the strength of Mesprit or Azelf. Even so... he could try. So he hovered before Dana, exerting the limits of his control on her -- anything to make her waver, to slow her down.

Dialga ( ... )

She winced at the bright light, and heard the cry, knowing exactly who it was. "I TOLD YOU..." she hissed, unable to control the volume of her voice. "YOU STAY AWAY FROM ME..."

Her eyes thinned as she stepped back. Dana wanted to keep her distance between herself and the lake spirit. His influence to try to quell her anger was not enough, but it was enough to keep her from straight up attacking him.

Her tail lashed against the concrete, cracking it slightly. "IT IS... FUTILE TO TRY TO STOP ME... ESPECIALLY... LACKING THE OTHERS... YOU KNOW THIS!"

And you know that I will try anyway.

He reacted to her retreat by floating closer, orbiting in a circle around her. The least that he could do was buy time, allow other to prepare, organize, and push through the slowed areas before Dialga could do any lasting harm. At best, he could goad her into directing her attacks at him, put his endurance to use tiring her out.

He was not a fighter. He knew she would be able to resist whatever attacks he had. He could not bring her down alone, but he could do what little was within his reach.

Perhaps I cannot stop you, Dialga, but I can hold you in place. Even as you are now... do you really think you can strike me down?

"YOU CHALLENGE ME? I WILL... AND I WILL NOT HESITATE TO DESTROY YOU!"

Even by now, her face began to take on grim look. Despite having the advantage of her own ground, she was to make sure that her foe could not move as quickly as she could. Lowing herself slightly, she waited to see what he would do, presenting herself ready to strike back with those fierce claws.

Then do your best, Dialga.

Uxie's spinning slowed and eventually came to a stop. He hovered in front of her, golden light still radiating from his body. He knew Dialga would not be dissuaded with words. He knew his feeble control would do little more than slow her down. He knew that he could not hope to subdue her single handed.

None of those things were what he intended. What he intended to do, after all, was buy time.

So he floated in the face of danger, and simply yawned.

The beast had always hated that move. She knew she had to act fast, or else it would leave her vulnerable for a given time. While he was still close to her, she quickly reached up for him, slashing out, forgetting to actually use the move that she would normally do. Metal claw or not, it would do damage to the small fairy.

Her eyes were already beginning to become heavy, she knew she wouldn't last much longer. Ugh... Dana was going to be so angry when she did wake up from her quick bout slumber. Especially how her temper was before she was even asleep.

It was a bit like swatting a bug: Uxie vanished with a squeak, bouncing off the roof of the building beneath them. He was floating back up into the air in no time, however; Dana the human (or... kind-of-human) lacked the power that Dialga the Pokemon's bulk afforded, and Uxie hadn't simply been boasting when he'd spoken of his defenses.

She wouldn't be awake for long, so Uxie wasted no time. His own natural abilities did afford him one method of strengthening himself -- Amnesia -- but... it was no surprise that the being of knowledge was opposed to using a move that involved intentionally discarding knowledge. So instead, he turned to those clever little human TMs. Uxie went still, let out a slow, steady breath, and calmed himself.

Her damages from before had been slightly masked from the time between their tussle and regarding the ones that had tried to put a stop to her earlier. The thought of sleep was actually quite enjoyable to the legendary, but she also disliked the idea. It would end up leaving her open. She had no room for weakness while in her state, who knows what her opponent could do if she even showed a bit of hesitation in her step or the inability to perform.

With an angry hiss, she lunged at him again. Before she was able to get far in that lunge, she slowly felt herself fall, her eyes growing heavy as she hit the concrete. The feeling of sleep washed over her and she eagerly drank from the cup that gave her the satisfaction and warmth of being able to snooze. Uxie had better be quick and wary of her, for she could rise from her slumber at any time, ready to attack.

Uxie could have attacked while she was out. He knew, however, that it would have been a waste. He couldn't pierce that thick hide -- not like Azelf or Mesprit could. Even if she had been worn down by the encounters that had come before, a legendary Pokemon did not fall that easily.

So he simply continued to use Calm Mind, bracing himself for when Dana inevitably awoke and unleashed her wrath upon him.

Perhaps ten minutes had passed before she stirred. Perhaps it was more time, or less time, but time had passed none the less. As she regained consciousness, the beast shot her eyes open, looking around frantically for Uxie. When she had spotted him, she decided to take him down the only way she could.

She transformed back into the monster that had unleashed the initial attack. Her form rose up, slightly leaning to one side due to the injury sustained in her front left arm. She hissed angrily, spotting the tiny creature again from the new height. The Dialga gave him no time, inhaling to fire off a green/yellow blast right at him.

He'd been steeling himself against special attacks for the duration of Dialga's slumber: he remained where he was, letting the blast of draconic flame wash right over him.

It hurt. But he could withstand a few more.

...Not that he necessarily needed to. Uxie began to circle Dialga again, illusory copies splitting off from him and joining.

You are upset due to the cracks in the timeline? You seek to fix what is broken? Dialga... perhaps this is something that is not intended to be fixed.

The fairy had read her like an open book. With her mind already slightly cracked from a previous skirmish, her stable mentality was not going to last.

Especially when his voice sounded almost like the one in her own mind. She screeched and began trying to bite at the copies. I MUST FIX THIS... THE TIME LINE HAS BEEN STABLE... THIS IS A CRACK THAT MUST BE REPAIRED!! She was at it again. Another crack to her mind, and she was roaring - without the attack attached - again. It seemed as if it was something that she would not want to stop doing any time soon. Dana seemed... to be in the middle of a tantrum of sorts.

Mesprit finally reached the top of the building, finding her brother and sister in an... awful state, oh goodness! What was happening? Why was... Too many questions! Not enough time to act! She rushed to Uxie's side and summoned a sphere of yellow light around them, protecting them from any damage potentially headed their way.

She had used the move to give her brother some time to explain, but she realized almost immediately after starting it that it was very difficult to maintain, and she felt her power draining fast. Wearily, she asked, "Brother, what is wrong with Dana? What can we do to help?"

"To borrow a human term, it seems to be a glitch in Dana's wiring. The more this place distorts time, the more she seeks to right it, and I'm afraid she's reached a breaking point." Uxie explained quickly, a hint of dismay buried beneath his usually calm voice as his copies were destroyed at an alarming rate beneath Dialga's jaws.

"Without Azelf, we cannot control her completely, but perhaps we can calm her down somewhat."

Having spoken, the golden glow around Uxie built up again, as he made another psychic plea to Dana.

You and Celebi both move through the time stream at will. Perhaps that gift is no longer meant to belong to the gods alone. Perhaps these people violate the laws of time for a reason.

The creature of time hissed to his plea, stopping for a moment in taking down the copies of the being of knowledge. She was too busy in her own world to realize that emotions had joined the cause to quell her.

THIS CANNOT BE! MERE MORTALS WERE NOT... EVER MEANT FOR SOMETHING SO... OUT OF THEIR BOUNDARIES... THEY CANNOT POSSESS IT... WHAT I AND CELEBI SHARE!!

She couldn't even begin to fathom something as that with her mindset right now. Nothing could do what a god does without mucking something up. That is why the gods were implemented into the world. To do the job right... and that is just what she had to do!

Mesprit covered her ears, as the loud roar was giving her a splitting headache and almost making her want to flee.

She set out on her own psychic endeavor, causing the space around her head to distort slightly as if in water, and the same to happen to Dialga's while she transferred her attempt at psychic communication.

"DANA!!!! I'M NOT SURE I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN!! BUT WHO DETERMINES WHO DOES THE JOB RIGHT?? IF ANYONE, ISN'T THAT MOTHER'S JOB??"
