Oh, was it morning already? He never would've guessed. Red was spending way too much time stewing over this whole... thing that was apparently going on at school, and he couldn't help but feel like it was all his fault. He stared at the stuff in the nearest vending machine like it carried some sage advice. What was he supposed to do? Tell him, tiny bag of Doritos.

"..." Thunk. His forehead met the glass display and he stared blearily at his reflection. ...Or the chocolate bars, it could go either way.

At the sound of Red's head banging against the vending machine, Green looked up from the tile under his shoes. He stared bleary eyed at the other boy for a moment, before letting a signature snide chuckle escape, though it hardly packed as much cynical nerve as usual. It was an attempt at making things normal.

"Your hair's seen better days. You look like an old mop."

Red turned -- well, more like shuffled -- around to face Green. "..." He stared at him blankly for the second it took to register that it was really Green and yes, he was talking to him.

"H-heh," Red cracked a weak smile, "That good, huh?"

"Or a dusty broom," Green continued, nodding.

Then his mood went sour. He looked back at that interesting tile, voice taking a strange timbre that anyone else might not have been able to recognize as Green's. However, Green knew that Red was only one of three humans to ever see him vulnerable, albeit at an age he could count on one hand. There was still a slight grin on his face, but it was regretful.

"Then again, I'm not really one to talk."

Yeah, Red definitely recognized that look and tone.

He looked up and down the hall to make sure nobody was looking, and then gave Green a pat on the shoulder. "Char's gonna be okay."

Green brought his hand up to the bridge of his nose, nodding slowly. Thanks, he almost said, but decided to just skip that part and get to what Red probably really wanted to hear.

"So are Sasha and Vinnie."

Whoa... WHOA... Was this really happening? Red almost wished he had a camera to record this momentous achievement. ...You know, almost. Everyone's egos were already bruised enough from this stuff.

So instead of 'are you actually being nice' or 'is it the end of the world already,' Red said "... Thanks."

"Yeah, they'll be getting their asses kicked by my guys again in no time."

He leaned back against the wall, grabbing a bag of unopened chips from next to him and tossing it up to Red.

"Eat something, will you? I'm tired of looking at you all sickly and creepy."

Red caught the bag of chips and flashed a grin. "Yeah. ...You too, okay? It wouldn't be fair to kick their butts just 'cause you're not eating enough."
