Canas waltzed into the room. He'd just finished a spectacular book about a character named Siddhartha, who-- well, let us leave the details out, but Canas thought it was simply fascinating.

Hawke caught his eye, and the book worm made his way toward the CO, smiling all the while. "Oh, patience?" He asked, leaning over his shoulder. "I've read about that game..."

Ah, another not-necessarily-unwelcome guest. Hawke nodded at Canas' entrance, and did nothing to deter him from entering the room. They were, in a sense, cohorts, after all.

It took him a moment, however, to realize that Canas was talking about his card game. "Patience? I call it Solitaire."

"Oh! Solitaire," he repeated. "Of course. My mistake."

He looked at Hawke's game quietly, matching his knowledge from books to the real thing.

Man. What was with all these people creeping on his card game? It wasn't like it was terribly interesting. So Hawke came to a reluctant solution. "Would you like to play something?"

He shuffled the deck. "What would you like to play, then?"

He racked his mind for suggestions.

"How about... Blackjack?" he decided, his fist falling into his palm with realization.

"Very well." He said, shuffling one more time and dealing out a hand. Blackjack wasn't a game that required copious amounts of focus, so Hawke felt comfortable enough making conversation.

"Did Lash say anything to you before she left?"

Just as he was about to focus on the cards, Canas looked up. "Huh? Oh... Lash. No, she didn't say anything to me. I was a bit surprised, actually."

Absently, he adjusted his monocle.

"Hm." So Lash really hadn't said anything to anyone. Hawke knew she was one to up and disappear (if her track record at school was any indication), but that didn't make the situation any less frustrating.

"She's done this before."
