First Snowflake - 2:23PM rockinthrutime December 2 2010, 19:38:05 UTC

Goose was more than ready to get that snowflake.

He was going to definitely get that snowflake. He wanted that snowflake. A little Southern boy that barely ever experienced snow, if not never in his childhood, screamed from inside of his mind. "I want it, I want it! That oughta to be cool!"

The 10-year-old self in him wanted that snowflake.

He was damn well going to listen to that boyish side of him. If he didn't achieve it, well, at least it's worth a shot, right?

He was right there, and he was waiting.

((What determines who will get the first snowflake? Do we decide amongst ourselves or does a mod determine it at random or something?))

Naval had just stepped out for her lunch break. She wasn't looking forward to snow or the dead of winter, as she absolutely hated freezing, but she did have to leave campus for something to eat and she wore probably a billion layers of clothing to deal with the predicted forecast.

There was goose standing outside all excited and sparkly-eyed... She stopped near him wondering what for.

"Hey thar!"

Well, that was a familiar face, if any! Goose was definitely very sparkly-eyed right now, but snapped out of the stupor once he heard her voice. After flipping his body and head around, he caught sight of Naval and grinned. Wave-wave.

"Nav'! What're you doing out here? Looking for that snowflake, too?"

"What snowflake?"

She is not familiar with this first-snowflake stuff, but she walked up closer to him, might as well spend a few moments with him before she whithers away from the chill

Goose pats her on the shoulder. "Nav', the first snowfall's happenin' today. The first snowflake's gonna fall, and that one? It ain't ever gonna melt. Ever."

He grinned. "And I want it." He coveted that little snowflake.

"A snowin' flake that never melts, huh?"

Naval looked up at the sky. didn't see anything coming down yet.

And then she gave him a hearty pat on the back.

"You better get that thing 'n show it to me, y'hear?"

No sooner than Naval said that, something did finally come down. A small speck of white began to float down towards the clock tower.

Goose's heart thumped. Oh, he knew what that was! He reached his hands up directly under it (at least, what looked like directly under it) and attempted to get it. He nearly missed it, but managed to snag it in his hand.

Oh man he got the snowflake, he got the snowflake, HE GOT IT.

"Nav', look at it!" He stretched his hand out and opened it up, revealing the gorgeous little snowflake in his palm.

She saw it only a mere second after he noticed it. The freezing bastard sparkled so beautifully that she was distracted by the sight of it until she saw a hand reach up and take it!

Gooseyjuice caught it! He really did! She looked into his hand in pure amazement. It didn't melt at all!

"That's so gorgeous," she chimed!

"You bet your ass it is. And it's miiiiiine."

Goose was pretty proud. Maybe a little too proud, but WHO CARES, IT'S HIS.

"You oughta try to get one next year."

"It's a snowflake. Size of your palm. Think that's really gonna freeze you?"

Goose laughed, a bit of a sassy tone lacing his voice. He kept his eyes on the snowflake, but they darted to Naval on occasion. "Look at it this way. If it didn't freeze some tropical kid, you think it'll freeze you?"

He didn't even give her any time to answer before he smirked and added, "Nope, didn't think so."

It was his odd way of reassurance.
