Who: Wave, Goose, Auto Shop students
What: Wave teaches the class about gyrocopters, and Sharky gets pimped right the hell out.
Where: Auto Shop room
When: Friday Afternoon
Warnings: D for YO DAWG unless we find Blacky's panties in it this time too
In the auto shop room that day, the students were greeted by a sight they had probably not seen before. A Gyrocopter. But not just any gyrocopter. This one was very familiar:
When everyone was paying attention, Wave set about explaining. "Since we all did so well working on Mr. Raiden's car last time, I thought we could move on to something a little more complicated this time. This is an Autogyro, or a Gyrocopter. Graciously on loan from Professor Goose for this lesson."
"Gyrocopters, like helicopters, are characterized by the spinning propellers on the top, that allow it to fly. But the big difference between them is that while helicopters force air down to give it lift, a gyrocopter's propellers generate lift by changing the angle of the air moving relative to the blades. We see two rotors here, the lift generating rotor on top, and a smaller rotor on the back for maneuvering. Inside the cockpit we have control stick, rudder pedals, and the throttle. This gyrocopter is set up in Pusher configuration, which means the engine and rudder are both located behind the pilot. You can also configure a gyrocopter in Tractor configuration, which places the engine in front of the pilot."
"So, like we did last week, we're going to see if we can't make a few improvements to our test subject here," she explained. "You've all got drafting supplies around you, as well as standard gyrocopter blueprints. I want you each to look over the designs and our vehicle, and come up with some modification you think will improve its performance and make it an all around more impressive flying machine. I'll want to see first drafts in 30 minutes, so start working."
