Once everyone was settled, Cyrus began to speak. "I have seen most of you among my students. But for those of you who have come to me for the first time, I will introduce myself. My name, as I appear to you today, is Cyrus."
As his speech continued, his voice picked up a strange quality. Although it started strong, it seemed to become stronger with time, despite his tone never changing. "Our world as we know it is a crude one...We as beings are crude ourselves. It is a struggle to survive in anything but the physical sense. We cannot achieve greater. We are...foolish beings. We fight, we maim...It is ugly."
His head tipped back, towards the sky, and he brought his arms out from behind his back, gesticulating like a preacher. "My aim in bringing you all together is to begin to fix those things. To end that struggle. To ensure that there is no strife, even in this tiny part of the land. We will be a beacon, an inspiration, in the universe. We will put an end to war, to suffering...and create a beautiful, perfect world."
Finally he snapped back to the people before him, making eye contact with every last one as he spoke. His arms folded behind his back again. "I cannot do it alone. We cannot do it alone. We must be unified in our aim, we as a school, as a city. As a people. And so I call upon each of you to speak your minds. To me, to each other. Tell of your grief, of your sorrow at this world. Tell of your hope for a world without strife. An ideal world."
After a pause, he sat down, waiting for others to take their turns.

What aww this was just ethics class redux
Jeff glanced to the others who had shown up before timidly raising his hand. He wasn't at all the confident speaker Cyrus was, but he felt firm enough in his own beliefs to make raise his voice just enough for everyone to hear him.
"Um. I don't have any grief or sorrow at the world, just... I know there are bad things in a lot of people's hearts, and I want to help make the world a place that they can see is worth living in and being happy for. To remind people to love each other. Like, um... As horrible as it was, that poisoning thing reminded a lot of people not to take their lives for granted, I think. I-it might not have been the right way to go about it, but the end result was good. A lot better than death, anyway."
He cleared his throat. A lot of this sounded better in his head. "if we just remind everyone how powerful love can be, then maybe that's what it'll take to achieve world peace."
Rather than object to Jeff's insistance, Cyrus stared blankly at him. "...You have seen much in your life," he stated, having garnered it from their classroom discussions. "What is the most overwhelming memory you have from your travels?"
"Giygas." The answer was immediate. "Anyone who was here during the Aparoid War can tell you that even the weaker imitation of him was just... too terrible for words. But the real and fake versions were both defeated with hope and love. It was our bond to each other and other people that saved us, I think. I'll never forget that feeling, either."
"Nothing we did seemed to have any effect on him until Paula-- ah, another student here who was also up against Giygas-- started to pray and..." He trailed off, suddenly feeling a little self-conscious.
"W-well. You really have to have been there. Not that I want anything like it to happen again."
"She broke the fourth wall and prayed to the player, that was pretty trippy."
"To anybody who would listen, I guess. Then something happened to finally hurt Giygas and eventually destroy him. I didn't find out until later that at the same time, a bunch of people we'd met along our way were suddenly overcome by the need to pray for our safety, even if they didn't know what we were doing at that time. It's... really powerful stuff."
It seemed impossible, from both a scientific and theological standpoint. "...I see. Their compassion was...quite powerful. Do you believe that it can overcome much else?"
Jeff had the feeling that Cyrus was a little skeptical, but he couldn't blame him. Before Giygas, he would have dismissed the idea as being too cheesy and scientifically impossible. But after everything...

Selene wasn't shy with her speaking. Far from it. She stood and let it all out, her words loud and clear.
"I wish for no evils. I wish for a world with many people, all of whom can get along and resolve issues without extremities. Who would not want a world like this?" She questioned to nobody in particular. She put a finger to her chin, her thoughts swimming as she tried to gather them.
"A world where few would resort to violence would be ideal, would it not? In this world, I feel I have little choice to fight for others. I will gladly do so if I must, but what if the world did not need this? If the world did not need this senseless battling, would it not be for the better?"
She left it at that. It was left pretty open for discussion.
