Because the human spirit is weak and incomplete, strife has spread...

Who: Cyrus and his class
What: Ethics class
Where: Classroom
When: Backdated to Monday
Warnings: The usual. Also they'll be talking about violence.

There was something different about Cyrus. He seemed quieter, more pensive, and stood staring out the window as if he didn't even notice the students at first. Even his usually present assistant was absent.

Finally, when most of the students were seated, he turned around partway, not making eye contact with anyone, and spoke in a decidedly softer tone than usual.

"All histories are riddled with violence. That such a thing exists is a subject for another time. For now...now there is what exists." He took a deep breath, letting it out in a sigh. "And for now we must discuss things as they are if we to are achieve what must be."

Finally he turned to them, looking out across the room at the far wall. "We must oppose those forces that infect the world. Yet by doing so, oftentimes in history we have descended to the level of those enemies and become enemies of the world itself. But we cannot simply set idly by and be overridden..."

He paused, as if his thoughts had wandered, and his eyes unfocused. "...To do so would be unthinkable. There can be no wavering from that cause..."

And just as suddenly he snapped back to attention, his back straightening and gaze falling on the class, speaking to them directly. "When is violence justified for the greater good? What can be forgiven?"
