What: Olimar's acting kind of strange on Valentine's Day. ...And it's not because of the Cupid-bots.
When: February 14th
Where: At school, outside Falcon's office
Warnings: Falcon usually has a foul mouth, but you never know. Also bitter, awkward tension and frustration.
Olimar dragged his feet subtly as he made his way down one of Smash Academy's many halls. This scene was not unlike any other - the Biology teacher wore a tired, wistful expression. It was just another holiday to remind him how much of a disgrace and a failure he was. The awkward tension between Olimar and the other captain did not go away, and, despite his best efforts, his marriage did not improve much. It was natural that it would take time, but it was dragging on far too long for the captain. Once facing Falcon's office door, he shuffled through the pocket of his lab coat to pull out a small card. It was plain, minus the ink and writing that created a monotone appearance.
It read:
"Happy Valentines Day! I wasn't sure what to write, but I think I at least owe a card to my best friend. I hope your day is splendid, and I wish you all the happiness in the world!
Your friend, with love, Ollie."
The tiny card's smooth surface was crumpled as Olimar curled his hand into a fist. "I can't do this," he bitterly muttered to himself. Once the scrap paper was stuffed hasily back into his pocket, he shook his head and sighed like many, many times before. Not everyone can get what the want, and, as a man, he just knew to accept that. This silent, unspoken punishment was perhaps one most suiting for the married man.
