Who: OPEN LOG What: Flint tries to landscape, everyone else JUMPS IN SOME FREAKIN' LEAF PILES Where: All over the place When: Wednesday, November 11 Warnings: leeeeeaaaavvveeess
Jake was walking by, hands in his pockets and listening to his music. When out of the corner of his eye he saw the huge pile of leaves. He thought for a few moments. He looked around to make sure nobody would see him, and promptly hopped into the pile. That done, he picked himself up and started walking away, a goofy grin on his face.
Unfortunately for Jake, someone was watching. Hawke had been sitting on a nearby bench, buried in a book when he heard the telltale sound of someone jumping in a leaf pile. A leaf pile in the general area, at that. Upon further inspection, it appeared to be Jake.
"I saw that." He quipped at the CO's retreating figure.
Black Hole's CO had absolutely nothing better to do, so he stood from the bench, pocketed his book, and started walking after Jake.
Someone needed to make sure the kid didn't run off, after all. Hawke knew that Orange Star COs were nothing if not responsible, so more than likely Jake would come back with some sort of implement to clean up the leaves. But it was pretty boring outside, so for the moment he'd follow the student.
Yes indeed, Jake was off to get a rake. But Hawke following him just made him feel even worse and more than a little bit nervous. Hawke PEERS THROUGH YOUR SOUL. "Um... Somethin' up?" he asked, hoping Hawke wasn't just going to supervise him work."
"I thought I'd head back to my dorm. We're both going the same way." Hawke shrugged. Conversation was not his strong point, but he could maybe...try. If only because Jake looked like he was about to die of fright.
Jake stopped. Did he hear that right? It couldn't have been. Hawke? Small talk? He turned his head. "Um, doin' okay?" he asked cautiously. "Um... how about you?" Clearly, having idle chit-chat with Hawke was one of the last things Jake ever expected to do.
Even people with the emotional capacity of a rock needed small talk every now and again. Maybe. Kind of. Hawke was at least trying, and Jake was probably the only Orange Star CO that was glad when he turned up...not dead.
"I've been well." He replied, and then immediately ran out of things to say. "...Andy seems to have given up on breaking into my room."
"Tried to." Hawke said, rather surprised that Jake hadn't heard about it. "It was earlier this year. I came home one afternoon to my door broken down. Max was in my living room and Andy and Sami were hiding in my bathroom."
Couldn't act mature ALL the time.
