Knuckles was able to charter a boat easily enough, and the club meeting was on. They had already met at the pier, and were now coming up on the island. Goombella was excited. It was by sheer luck that she was doing some research and came across satellite pictures of this island supposedly drifting through the ocean. It seemed to be of little importance to anyone, just a hunk of land that would surely break apart in no time. But the things she saw on the pictures, the small, unmarked, very old structures, suggested to her that the island had more of a history than anyone knew. Buildings meant someone had to be living there. But if there was no life on the surface, that would mean whoever it was had to have been gone for some time. And that meant this might not be a natural phenomenon. Needless to say, the explorer in her was thrilled.
As they arrived and disembarked, Goombella was surprised to feel how solid the island was under her feet. It wasn't like it was really floating at all; it felt like it belonged there. "I knew this would be an interesting trip," she said with no small hint of excitement. "Okay everyone, welcome to the treasure hunting club meeting!" she called out, turning around. "Today we're going to go exploring the island, but be careful. We're not sure what we'll find here. You should all have picked up headset radios so we can keep in touch if anything goes wrong or we get separated. We'll meet back up here at 9 for a meal and then head back to shore. So let's go find something cool!"
