Characters: Tails, Ribbon
What: The two hang out in the school, and have a chat. Tails also has something he wants to say, but doesn't know if he'll be able to do it.
When: Monday, July 27th, midday
Where: Around campus
Rating: C for Cute, S for SHHH it's a Secret

Ribbon stopped walking and turned to face Tails who happened to be running towards her. Did he forget something?

"Is something wrong?"

Tails stopped in front of her, and opened his mouth to speak.

... But nothing came out. Darnit, why can't I say anything!?

He closed his mouth, and looked like he was thinking; in reality, he was quickly stalling for time a little.

And then it finally came out.

"I-I have something I need to tell you." The next part came quieter... and pretty fast, as Tails blushed. "IreallylikeyouRibbon."

Ribbon just stared at Tails. Was that something he was having trouble saying?

"I know that already. You're my friend, we're supposed to like each other!"

She smiled as she hugged him tightly, her stuffed animal being squished between the two. "Thanks for telling me though, cause I like you too!"

Oblivious fairy is oblivious.

Insert gigantic sweatdrop on Tails' forehead. Well, he hadn't expected that, at the least. But he knew that she didn't... quite understand what he meant. Though of course, he hugged her back, but after that, he shook his head, blushing a little.

"A-Ah, that's not what I mean... what I mean is..." Deep breath. "I... like you more than a friend..."

"Like me...? More than just a friend...? You mean, like how Knuckles is towards Goombella?" Ribbon isn't sure what Tails is trying to say, but she has a feeling that might be the case...

If it's true, she wouldn't know how to respond to that.

Oh boy. Tails can already see where this is going. And boy did he fear it. But no time to chicken out now; might as well go all the way with the confession.

"Y-Yeah. Well, you know, like uh... boyfriend-and-girlfriend-like." Did he actually just say that? Yes, he did. He actually confessed.

And now he awaits the response, already fearing it will go into the deep end.

"Boyfriend... and girlfriend?" The fairy went into thinking mode as those words ran through her mind. She could remember the first Treasure Hunting Club meeting when Knuckles keep winking at Goombella. She could remember what Gannondorf told her on the journal network, and the Sex Ed class that followed. And then there's information on the internet she found out of curiosity... that the stork isn't where babies come from....

Her eyes went wide as she yelled out the following words.

"DOES THAT MEAN WE GOING TO HAVE SEX?!"

And then she freaked out.

HOLY crap, Tails literally flew back as she said those words.

"W-What the!? N-No, that isn't what it means!" He stood up and dusted himself off. "That's only for people who've been together a really long time and choose to do so themselves... that is not a necessity for a relationship!" Tails was frantic as he explained that, hoping it would calm Ribbon down.

Boy, was he ever going to have trouble sleeping tonight.

Ribbon was still shaken, but not too much in a frenzy like before. It's a good thing that sex is a choice and not a requirement, cause she doesn't want to get it on and end up with babies that isn't from the stork... had that been true.

"That's good..." Ribbon sighed, obviously relieved. She then stared at Tails, someone who likes her that way... like how Knuckles is with Goombella. She kinda felt that way about Knuckles once... and still do... but her feelings are nowhere near as strong with Tails. Still... she doesn't want to let him down.

But how will she be able to tell him that? She doesn't know for sure, but will keep silent for now.

Tails couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine as she stared at him. Why isn't she saying anything else? She hasn't really answered... my confession... oh. It then dawned on him that maybe she wanted to find a nice way to reject-- no, that was too mean of a word. To decline. Yes, that sounded better.

And Tails just doesn't say anything. What can he say? He doesn't want to sound insensitive and ask her what her answer is, but at the same time the silence is unnerving him.

She realized then that her silence is making Tails uncomfortable. It gave her enough incentive to speak again, but with words the fox wasn't expecting to hear.

"Tails, are you alright? You look worried..." She said, a bit concerned. Does it has to do with his confession? Her reaction to it all? She really doesn't know. Oh, if only Knuckles was here....

Tails seriously did not know what to do next. He felt that everything pretty much was about to come crashing down on him, especially if she rejected him. Not that he would ever blame her for it. But what was he supposed to do? Supposed to say!?

"W-Well, uh..." Darn, he wanted to run away right now. Run away...

Run... away...

... No way.

No way was he running away. It's what he'd done in a lot of situations in his past, and Sonic showed him otherwise. Same with Knuckles. He had to be strong, he had to be. He had to find out the answer, and he needed to find it out now.

... Oh, but the words were so difficult to say!

"W-Well... if you don't want to, that's... okay... I just... wanted to tell you, that's all."

He could only look on her with a half-distressed face, wondering if he'd said the wrong thing all along. Maybe it had been best not to say anything. But it's too late now. He might get his answer, this time.

"...I guess we can give it a go." Ribbon said, not really sure if she wants to do this at all. She see Tails as a friend and nothing more than that. But at the same time, she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. If anything, this will be a new experience for her. Who knows? Maybe her mind will change in the future.
