Blue Tektites! First wave! cantwait2bombme July 25 2009, 08:49:49 UTC
The quickest wave arrived first.

Spiders-like monsters Hyrulians had named Tekites.

Hundreds of them. Thousands, even.

Around three feet tall, their skeletons were as hard as a crab's carapace, and dark blue. They had a single red eye in the center of their body mas, and it moved around to see their foes more clearly. The creatures screeched as they leap in the air, some landing loudly near a few students and teachers.

It was time.

First blood went to the flaming newt.

Char's regression had deprived him of most of his stronger moves, but egg moves... those were for life. When the Tektites drew near, he dropped down onto all fours, tail rising into the air like a scorpion's. He let out a high-pitched little growl, watching as one of the creatures hopped closer... closer... now!

With typical reckless abandon, Char hurled himself forward, his entire body erupting in flames as he picked up speed. He gathered his limbs beneath him and pounced, colliding with a Tektite in mid-leap with a head-on Flare Blitz. The creature let out an agonized shriek and fell to pieces, and Char bounced to the ground, dazed by the impact.

One down, a squillion and three more to go.

Goose immediately noticed how hard their exoskeletons were. He himself was not sure if wanted to take the chance and see whether or not they could handle bullets. However, those eyes looked like they'd be good weak points. He just... needed to aim the right way.

He pointed at one and fired. It missed, but smashed into one of the spiders' legs. A second shot, it hit a harder part of the skeleton and bounced off. A third shot, it collided with the eye, causing the creature to let out its death cry as it crumbled into nothingness onto the battle ground.

Goose went on, trying to kill as many of them as possible with this very method.

"Hey, spider dummies! Eat Power Gloves!"

Nester took the spiders on and bashed them in through their eyes, which proved to be a pretty decent method to kill them off. However, it wasn't enough. He was quickly getting ganged up on by the hopping beasts and needed something stronger.

He had that, though.

"Oh yeah, tarantula things?! Check this out!" He took out his two PES Zappers and began firing at them. His aim wasn't the best, but it was enough to kill off more of the spiders than his Power Gloves proved to do. He just had to keep this up.

Tails turned his attention to the spider-like creatures and began firing at them, but the bullets bounced off for the most part. A few cracked shells, but he realized that firing at their red eye was the best way to destroy them, so he started aiming for those.

There were so many! He couldn't stop firing now - he had to help everyone as best he could.

These things weren't so tough - they were like most creatures. Aim for the eyes and they became defenseless. Knuckles cut his way through them, fists flying, feet kicking and teeth bared. He hated to hurt them but if he didn't, they were going to harm everyone so... it had to be done.

Jake turned up his music as the Tektites approached. What else was he gonna do with an army of running and jumping spider monsters?

Of course, the answer was simple. Jake started swinging the microphone stand, batting them away like golf balls.

Lighter was ready. He was pumped! He was...

surrounded.

Three of the huge spider-like creatures had landed close to him, and were now circling him, chittering hungrily. Lighter took a deep breath and summoned all his strength to swing the 4x4 around him, knocking two of them away. They were injured, but not enough to keep from shaking it off and heading for him again. Okay, so much for that idea.

He looked around frantically, then used the lumber to help propel himself into the air to jump on the third spider, planting one foot straight into the center of its eye with a sickening schlup.

With Blacky and Smeargle either by his side or trailing closely behind him, Raiden was finding these spider monsters... not incredibly challenging. They were huge, ugly, scary and went down after a few slashes of his sword. He found they could be cleanly cut in two halves if he waited until one jumped up in the air at him.

Despite the numbers he was plowing through he showed no signs of freight or even enjoyment. Stoic little solider boy was stoic. ...this was nothing.

Occasionally he would look back at the two little girls he assigned himself to protect and see how they were doing.

For a kid, Raiden was really good at this. Blacky watched in awe, not relinquishing her grip on the bottom of his shirt, and buried her face in his back every time one of the creatures leapt at them.

She just wished she could have been more helpful. And a little less covered in slimy spider guts.

Staying out of the way was more helpful than he could ever begin to tell you. Maybe when you were older Blacky he would teach you the ways of virtual reality combat.

Good thing this wasn't his favorite shirt.

And on the other side of him, also clinging to his shirt, was the other puppy. She was so amazed by the way he was fighting..Hiding her head back and shutting her eyes every so often when she'd think that the spiders came close enough to get her.

Through it all, she still managed to try to boast the moment, as calmly as she could, but still feeling the jitters of excitement and fright, she gave him a few words. "G-Go R-Raiden! S-Slice t-those icky s-spiders t-to p-pieces!"

Blastoise was just psyched! There was a shitload of spinaraks! ALTHOUGH he really had no attack that would do a super effective damage on them, this little squirtle would do his best!

So he barrled through them with a surf, knocking several and drowning a few in his wake.

Parakarry jumped out of the way as a Tekite lunged straight at him.

He pulled out his letter opener from his pocket and stabbed the spider dead in the eyes, causing it to let out a shriek before toppling background, much to the little boy's amazement.

Slippy held on to the grenade with his tail, refusing to use it unless absolutely necessary.

Instead, he opted to using tail whip smacking the mutant spiders with the end of his tail with all his strength.

Gage had only just managed to exit the building as this first wave approached. Alright, take it easy, Gage. No sense dashing in -- this horde all looks alike. I can tell who's who for now.

Gage dropped his pile of munitions and squatted down with his rifle. This is a terrible position, but for now those children and... other things need help. From his crouching position on the ground he began firing off shots into the distant battle, taking care not to strike anything that wasn't blue and crablike.
