Smash Fundamentals Lecture #8 - Grabbing and Throwing

Jun 23, 2008 21:21

Hello class, beep! Today's class will be about throwing your opponent.

Of course it requires actually grabbing them first. Many of you have different constitutions which means one may have a longer reach than others. Grabbing is very important, and also very useful because you can grab someone even if they have a shield up, beep. Once you've grabbed someone, you can attack them with a grab attack. Hit them with your hands, knees, or weapon! Just don't take too long while grabbing someone or else they will break free. If you have a tool or other object to help your grabbing range, feel free to use it! Just be warned that if you miss, you will have to take a longer time to recover.

Throws happen after you grab someone. You can throw in four directions, beep. Above, below, forward, and backward. Backward throws have a lot of power, beep! Some backward throws can even be used as KO moves if you use them right. Throws are very important for getting your opponent in a position to your advantage for a combo, beep. Certain down throws can also be used for something called chaingrabbing and roll chasing. These are advanced techniques which I will go over later in the year, beep.

To help demonstrate these throws, we have Realbag. (he's Sandbag's real cousin don't ya know?).

I would like to see the class demonstrate throwing in two directions of your choosing, beep.

((OOC: I bolded the instructions as I feel some previous players didn't quite get the instructions G&W was asking for. just to make things clear :^D))
