I Feel So Free! Tails Flies Around The School~

What: Tails flies around the school grounds, feeling the fresh air.

Where: Around the school grounds.

Knuckles was taking a spin around the grounds on his board gear. It had seen a lot less use since Christmas when Wave had given him his bike style gear, and he felt like it deserved a bit of run time.

He swooped around the clock tower and careened towards the ground... but on his way down, who should he see but his propellor-butted-buddy-gone-AWOL.

Well... it was about time he greeted the flying fox properly.

He changed course, headed straight for the airborne Canine.

"Hey, You!"

Tails turned around almost in shock, and saw Knuckles. "Oh, hey, Knuckles!" He slowly landed, and walked over to the echidna. "I see you're riding your extreme gear."

Knuckles nodded. "Yeah... it's the first one you made me. It's been pretty good to me. I have a bike type one Wave made for me that I use also.... keeping my skills sharp should there ever be another grand prix."

He crossed his arms and looked Tails over. "So. How've you been? I think you're taller than last time I saw you."

"Well, I'm glad you're still making use of it!" Tails grinned.

"I've been alright, I guess. Not as lonely now that I've returned. I even made a few new friends in the last day!"

"Oh? Anyone I know?" Knuckles asked, propping his gear up on it's end and leaning on it. "Actually... I know most everyone who goes here. You'd be surprised how many friends I've made myself."

"Let's see..." Tails counted them off, starting with the most recent one he had made: "Ribbon... Pit... Mir, my room-mate... and Adeleine."

"Ribbon is a real good friend of mine and Pit is good people too." Knuckles said, scratching at his chin as he spoke. "I've been teaching Ribbon how to fight a little and Pit is the Freshman Rep. on the student council.... I'm vice president."

He frowned a little. "So, you were pretty vague when you were explaining where you ran off to. Care to elaborate? And please don't tell me you're an alien clone or the you that was here six months ago wasn't really you and it was an alien clone."

He was deadly serious.

"Really? I thought as much with Ribbon... she mentioned you in my journal." Tails responded. "And congratulations on getting vice president!"

But when he was asked where he was, he thought for a moment. A lot of it was a blur after coming back to the school, but he was able to pick out some of it. "Well, before I explain that, no, I'm not an alien clone, and I was here six months ago." He took a deep breath.

"I had to go back to West Side Island. It... had a lot to do with me missing the place, and I had to investigate a couple of things." The next part was a bit softer, "N-Not to mention I had to find some answers to things... that I never found in the end."

"Thanks for the congratulations." Knuckles said with a nod and a smile. "And thanks for not being an alien clone - there was this whole... thing... with someone who was. Anyways, sorry you didn't get the answers you were looking for... If you're meant to know, you'll find them eventually."

He didn't want to pry any more than that - it seemed as though Tails was less than happy abou the topic to begin with so best not to carry on with it.

"I hope so. So, what's been going on with you, then?" Tails inquired. After all, Knuckles had been asking all the questions thus far; Tails was curious himself how his good friend had been doing the past six months.

"Well... Hmm... where to start...?" Knuckles replied, crossing his arms. "I guess the biggest thing is that I have a girlfriend now... her name is Goombella. She's really smart and I think you two would get on well. She's really into archaeology and treasure hunting so we're a good match. There was the student council thing... Umm... well, a little after you left, Princess Daiosy admitted to being in love with me. I told her I wasn't into her like that, then the war came up, she dissapeared and we found out that the REAL princess Daisy had been kidnapped by aliens and the one here was an alien clone."

He thought for a few seconds "...Hmm... Fang turned out to be a dirty lying thieving sonovabitch after all so you were right to mistrust him. Umm... plenty of other stuff. I dunno. You've been gone a long time."

"Oh really?" said Tails, surprised a little. "Hard to imagine you with a girlfriend...

"Oh, so that's why you asked me about the alien clone thing. That makes more sense... but it's still confusing." Tails scratched the back of his head a little.

"And I should've known - I just didn't think he could be trusted."

"He can't be trusted... after stealing everyone elses stuff, he made one BAD choice and decided to go after the Master Emerald. I got him, and if it weren't for Lucas stopping me, I'd have put him in traction. Luckily enough, Daisy..er.. clone Daisy... beat him up pretty bad a few days later and sent him to hospital. He hasn't stolen anything else but he's still a jerk."

The Echidna sat down. "As for me having a girlfriend... yeah... bit of a surprise. But after being here so long and having a lot of good female friends, I came to realise that they're just people... I still get a little... flustered. Sometimes. I guess. But not nearly as much as I used to."

"Hm. Well, at least he was taken care of," mused Tails. "And at least nobody else was hurt."

Tails tilted his head. "I've never really felt embarrassed around girls before. Nor have I ever really seen what it means to 'have a relationship'," he said as if the phrase was foreign. "But I'm glad you're happy with what ya got, Knuckles." He flashed off a grin.
