There was nothing Weavile loved more than winter. Watching the snow fall, feeling the winter breeze rush past, and most of all, ice skating. Growing up in frigid climates, there wasn't much else to do to amuse himself than ice skating on frozen bodies of water. Without even noticing, he became almost expert in it.

He had never tried ice skating in his human form before. But he preferred to stick with what he knew. So in his smaller Pokemon form, he glided about the ice like he owned it. Feeling a little playful, he pulled a Crossfoot Spin and then a Sit Spin or two.

Did he mention how much he loved winter?

Even though Weavile was a feline, he was also a dark Pokemon. One with an interest in psychology, at that! Blacky decided that a mere allergy was no reason the two couldn't speak and find even more common ground.

...besides, in her current state (which was covered in fur and therefore so much warmer), fellow Pokemon were probably the only ones she could hold a proper conversation with.

Blacky placed one paw tentatively on the edge ice, and when she decided it was safe to walk on without making a fool of herself, she slowly trotted out onto the lake. She shot Weavile a grin as he passed by. "Goodness, aren't you the talented one."

There was one more Pokemon present that day, though he definitely lacked the warm fur of the two dark-types. The wind had a way of cutting right through his feathers and seeping into his bones, but Xatu had resolved not to spend the entire winter in his human form; a little cold would help keep him sharp. Besides, it was better to venture onto the ice as something that weighed 30 pounds than something that weighed 160.

"I agree. You're quite impressive to watch, Mr. Weavile," Xatu called out from the side of the bank. Carefully, he took his first few steps onto the ice, heading over to join Miss Blacky. To his credit, he made it 3/4 of the way before he slipped and landed on his back... with a completely unchanged expression. "I, on the other hand, would be better off sticking to teleporting."

"I grew up in a frozen wasteland. There was hardly much else to do with my free time." Sighing, he replied, "It's been far too long since I've last been ice skating. I'm afraid I've become a tad rusty."

But far be it for him to disappoint his audience of two. Making a few rounds to pick up speed, Weavile managed to perform a triple axel. It had a somewhat wobbly landing, but at least he didn't wipe-out.

"I'm sure both of you would become quite skilled given time to practice."

"For being 'rusty,' you're certainly one of the most talented people on the ice so far." She glanced back to Xatu, entirely unable to tell if he was hurt or not. Well, if he was still able to show a sense of humour like that... surely he was fine?

It would be interesting to see how to normally statue-like bird would get back up, anyway. As long as he didn't just cheat and teleport.

Xatu, as it turned out, didn't exactly get up... he simply sat up. Holy shit he can actually bend. If it weren't for his stony expression, it would have looked rather childish: a small green bird sitting on the ice, "coat" splayed behind him and wings fanned against the slippery surface. "Again, I find I must agree with Miss Blacky. All that practice has paid off very well for you. Alas, I have my doubts that I would be cut out for skating. It seems like an excellent workout for the legs, but I am no friend of wintertime."

"Thank you," Weavile came to a stop. Like Blacky, he watched Xatu with hidden curiosity. "Yes, I suppose having a dislike of cold weather would put a damper on one's ice skating endeavors."

If he really wanted to get into it, he would have mentioned the physical morphology of each Pokemon's feet and how well they moved on different surfaces. But that honestly would have just turned the conversation a tad awkward and probably boring. Not to mention he had a feeling that Blacky would have made a crack about 'feet size.'

Holy shit Xatu can actually bend. Blacky cocked her head to the side, eying Xatu critically. "Speaking of, did you happen to receive those gloves? Not that they would fit you at the moment, I suppose..." She took a few steps closer to the bird, suddenly feeling awkward on the ice in comparison to Weavile's natural grace. But if she had to choose between her pride and a cold bottom... Well, she was quick to take a seat.

"Yes, thank you. They're quite warm... though you're right, they're a little small to be housing an entire wing. It would have been much wiser to come outside as a human than a bird, but this form is simply the most comfortable for me, in spite of its intolerance of the cold." Xatu was proud of his species. He'd never wish to be another Pokemon for anything... but it was hard not to admire the easy comfort with which Weavile moved. Ah, but that was neither here nor there.

"I suppose that it's unusual to prefer one's original form in this school, though. I believe this is the first time I've seen you as... well, a Weavile, Mr. Weavile."

"Really?" Weavile raised an eyebrow. "I've gone out in this form before... During the first snowfall of the winter, actually. But I don't recall seeing you that day, so I suppose that would make sense."

Frowning a little, he replied, "To be honest, I do prefer my human form most of the time. I find opposable thumbs to be immensely helpful." This conversation was turning slightly uncomfortable for Weavile.

"Mm..." Blacky couldn't exactly claim to be one who spent a lot of time in her natural form, either. Although had she lived anywhere else, perhaps she would. "I'm afraid we aren't all blessed with the ability to move objects with telekinesis or speak the common language here." There was as much of a smirk as could be expressed on a canine's muzzle, to show that she didn't mean it in a hostile way. Mostly.

...And then she couldn't hold it anymore; she quickly turned her head away and sneezed.

"An excellent point, Miss Blacky. I suppose I only prefer my original form because I have the least to gain from being human. I must admit, my dexterity on the few occasions I do use my hands tends to be... laughable at best. The two of you have adapted to being human very well, though. It may just be that grace comes naturally to dark types, but from what I've seen of your human forms you're both quite dignified."

He did notice the sneeze, but made no comment other than a simple "Bless you." It was rather cold out, after all -- the most obvious conclusion was just that Blacky was chilled.

"I cannot speak for both of us, but I have had plenty of time to practice being human. Although you've worked at SumaBura for quite a while, correct, Miss Blacky? I can only assume that you've tried being human quite a few times then." Hearing her sneeze, he added, "Gesundheit."

Weavile shrugged and continued, "Each has its advantages and disadvantages. I'm sure it would be quite difficult to teach class to non-Pokemon students if you cannot speak their language. But that probably isn't so much of a problem for psychic types," he added with a smirk.

"Ah, I'm afraid that dignity comes only from having spent most of my life in that form. I was terribly awkward when I was just starting out." A nostalgic look passed her eyes for a moment. With only two legs and no tail to balance the unfamiliar weight in her chest, there had been a lot of falling on her face. Ah... the good old days.

"But yes... being a psychic type must have so many advantages for even day-to-day living."
