Byrne did hope that this pirate guy didn't know who he really was. Otherwise he would have been less apt to provoke him in such a strange way by asking him to dance. Though if he had said yes, then what? Perhaps he would have, to humor himself, or he would have used "dancing" as a euphemism for some sort of sick seduction in another room.

Well, maybe he wouldn't have done that either. If Nabooru found out somehow, he knew she wouldn't be happy. It wasn't as if he would be cheating on her, as they were not in some sort of "relationship," but her respect for him probably would have dwindled.

Really, he was mainly counting on the pirate man to say no and make an amusing reaction. While he pointed to his mask to reveal why he wasn't talking, Byrne thought that that was only part of the equation. After all, everyone else in the room was speaking with their normal voices.

Well, he couldn't be sure unless he ripped the mask off the man himself. But, he somehow thought that out of all the things to get in trouble for by the Headmaster, it would be something as stupid as that.

"Hm. All right then. Let me know if you change your mind about the dancing," he said with a smirk. Really, he must have had more to drink than he initially thought. But either way, he walked away, leaving the pirate man to himself.

Caim simply stared after him. Well. At least whoever the feathered one wasn't the most horrible person he'd ever met.

Of course, if he'd known it was Byrne, he wouldn't have thought that. And in the end, those brief few moments ranked out as the best ones of the evening. Someone with a sense of humour who wasn't the most terrible person in the academy.

And Caim smiled. Just a tiny bit when Byrne turned to go. He gave an encouraging nod and even danced with the air for another five seconds. At least Byrne wasn't going to forget the pirate.
