Dear TV Industry,

Is it so hard to ask for a television show with strong, independent females? You tricked me with Rizzoli & Isles. I was lured in by these two strong women who got so wrapped up in each other that men seemed pretty secondary. And yeah, okay, I shipped them. But that's beside the point. I would have been very content to just sit in my shipper fantasy as long as they stayed the best of friends.

But slowly, the manvils started coming more and more often. And then you repeated a manvil. And I got scared. In one season, you have somehow managed to give me the quickest show high ever only to bring it crashing down just as fast. Never had a show do that before. It took CSI and SVU a few years to build and collapse. But eventually, they did too.

All the women on all these shows have one thing in common: Their ultimate weakness is men. WHY? I'm not saying they all have to be lesbians, but WHY can't just one woman say "Hey, no thanks, I think I'm good for a bit without being married." Not every woman needs or wants to screw like crazy and pop out babies. No wonder some women throw themselves at anything that even smiles at them. No wonder the divorce rate is so high. People jump into marriage because we're constantly told it's the right thing to do. Yeah well, shove it. It's not.
*sighs* But I'm a sucker. Until Rizzoli & Isles takes that final step too far, I'll be watching for my love of Maura/Sasha.
