If you are going to go see It's Complicated, please do...if only to support Meryl Streep.

I don't believe I have seen such a misogynistic movie in quite some time. Maybe since...I don't know...KRAMER VS. KRAMER?! Meryl, sweetheart, I love you. Why are you doing this to yourself? You can do so much better. Think MAMMA MIA!...think JULIE & JULIA! Frankly, my dear Meryl glowed in this movie. As Jane, she was adorable, funny, cute, and sexy. But the best parts of the movie were when Alec Baldwin was not present...which were few and far between. His performance was...spot on...for an over-confident, undignified, certifiable jackass. And what do you know? His name was Jack Adler. har har. He tried to dominate the screen and quite frankly, Meryl still kicked his ass, thank God. Oh and just a heads up, you will see WAY too much of his body...WAY WAY too much...and too often. Steve Martin (Adam), however, was amazing. I rarely see his movies but he has the role of the kind, gentle, caring man in this movie and let me say, he pulled it off. Every time he was on the screen, I was screaming "KISS!" However, for the first hour or so, you barely even see him and it is all the part of the affair that consists of Jane and Jack...which, thank GOD they do not actually have Jane cheat. She is only the "other woman" which, frankly, I can take because his wife, Agnes, was originally the "other woman." Throughout the movie, however, Jack makes it very clear that all he wants is her vagina. No, I'm serious. He makes rude hand gestures, speaks lewdly...and at one point, he says that he loves how they can stay together for an evening without having sex, then proceeds to try and take off her robe. It is also clear that he is really only going back to her because Agnes is having hormone issues and keeps freaking out because of some pills she's taking. He was having problems with little miss perfect so he needs an affair. CLEARLY the man has not changed in the least. John Krasinski was an absolute doll in this movie though. He probably had the funniest character, the most charming, and the most lovable. As the fiancee of Jane's oldest daughter, he shows movie-goers what a perfect partner is like. He helps make wedding plans, he's there for her emotionally, he even...well I won't ruin the movie for you. But let's just say that he's the second youngest male in the movie and he's the MOST emotionally mature, even above Adam. I love Adam, but...there are reasons he's not exactly the best...though darling Jane doesn't help in that area. So please, do go see this movie...do it for Meryl. But make sure you have a lot a lot of alcohol lined up for afterwards...like I do...which I shall be indulging in right about...NOW.
