Job Bullshit

Tomorrow I have a group coming from Mexico City to hear my Art & Architecture Tour. The professor heard me last year and was incredibly impressed by what I do, so he emailed me personally to ask for me to be their guide. I told him he needs to contact Visitors Services management but that he could request me personally, which he did. The group he has coming is too big for me to handle alone, though. So there are two other guides handling this group.

I don't want to piss on my coworkers, many of them are incredibly knowledgeable, but I am the best guide there, where art, architecture, and acoustics are concerned, there is no question. The other two groups are going to be sorrily disappointed. I really hope this gets back to management, too. As I've said, the head of my department is a nasty fucking CUNT and I hate her. She has demeaned and disrespected me at every turn. She's a liar, a backstabber, a thief, and an all around evil bitch.

I spent an entire summer of my own time researching this tour. My time is not free. I'm 40 fucking years old, I do not work for free. I have three decades of expertise in these subjects. After telling me "we already have that information," which was a LIE the first time it came out of her mouth and all the hundred times since then, it is still a lie. It's her way of pretending that my knowledge is worthless to her. Then she sends these incompetent interns to spy on my tour and mine information from me, so she won't have to compensate me fairly for my hard-earned research and lifetime of devotion to the subject.

It's made me very paranoid. I had a girl on my tour today taking notes for, she claims, her college newspaper. All I'm thinking is this is another spy sent by my cunt boss to steal information from me. Examining the situation, I don't think that was the case, but it's still fucked up that I have to be so paranoid.

My boss claims I have no right to this information (meaning she can use any of it that she wants). Unfortunately for her, the document I use as the basis for my tour is copyrighted with the Library of Congress. So according to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES, it IS MY PROPERTY.

I know the other guides are falling short because I'm now working at another tourist site (B) and I've asked them what they think about the experience at site (A). They're totally unimpressed. They were talking about the other guide who's been assigned to my friends from Mexico City. Not sure what I can do about it. I just hope this group makes a big old stink when 2/3 of them get a lackluster tour.

Honestly, I really hate this corporate bullshit. I just want to do what I love. And I plan to be the best fucking guide at site (B) within a few months, if I can help it.

Love,
Ryan
