nothing's more important...
People say things like "nothing's more important than school" or "nothing's more important than my job" or "nothing's more important than (my car, my money, my status, my kid, my spouse, my pet...etc.)"
pbft, no you have that wrong.
nothing, especially at this critical point in time, is more important than faith, than hope, than trust in the living God, Father of Christ, creator of all the universe. every one of those things that people think are more important than God himself are all of the things that He has trusted us with, to keep watch over until the end of this life. When you die, do you take all of your things with you? of Course not, because they aren't really yours to begin with. the things of this world will pass away, but the word of God will last forever.
it's maddening this world, it is. even more so is trying to explain this to a dear loved one who can't see his own shadows nor the light of the morning.
so blessed. and yet thankless. God, please forgive me, for taking your gifts for granted. thank you for tapping me on the shoulder at just the right moments for me to see that i still need to be here, and for showing me how much worse life could be. I plead for your help, for your strength to keep pressing on toward you and the ultimate goal... In Jesus' name, Amen.
