It has been brought to my attention that I need to make a post. The truth is, I've had every intention of doing so, I just simply haven't, and that's my bad.
Some interesting (sorta) things have happened since you heard from me last.
I got out of my apartment and into Matt's. I don't really know what I would have done had he not gone to Europe for a month. I mean, I guess I'd be here anyways, but living on his couch. All my non-essentials are just chillin' in storage until I can move into Fountains. I cried to them a little more about my situation and they finally relented and said I can move in as soon as my unit is ready, which will be either Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Ryan will be moving in on Saturday. I'm really excited about that, I think we will make great roommates. I did hear from the potluck roomie, and he's apparently backing out. He was super fratty, so god only knows who he'll find to sublease to.
Orientation started. I haven't decided what I think about it, exactly. Just to give a brief rundown, what they're doing are these really long workshops because they have so many people with no business class experience. For instance, on Tuesday I did an economics workshop for 8 hours. It's just stuff like that, basically. I like their intentions. Next week there are three days of accounting. While, that sounds awful, I recognize that that will be very beneficial to me. There are some of these things, though, that seem like nothing but a complete waste of people's time. It's all kinda a new program, though, and I'm sure they'll iron out the kinks. But for the time being, we get to be the lab rats. On the plus side, they're feeding us lunch everyday, and it's usually something pretty good. And, turns out we're getting that $500 refunded. It also seems like everybody I've taken the time to meet seems pretty cool...or at least decent enough for me to be ok with being around them for the next year and a half/two years.
There are a lot of good shows coming up soon here in Lubbock. I was kinda scared that when gas prices soared we'd fall off the live music map. Not only was I wrong, but there are even two new venues. Sunday GBH is going to be here, and I'm thrilled. I've been screaming for a punk show here for two years, and finally one of the new places delivers, and delivers with a band that helped make punk music what it is today.
Friends, it is almost that magical time of year again. That's right, it's about time for the 2008-2009 NFL Preview Post. I realize that this post is a couple of yalls annual life highlights, and this year I plan on beefing it up a little.
Long, emotionless,
Hark! The doldrums are over!
Football season nears!
A quick preview post teaser list:
5 teams that missed the playoffs in 2008 that will be in the hunt this year
1.) Arizona *sigh*
2.) Minnesota
3.) Baltimore
4.) New Orleans
5.) Cleveland
At least 3 of those teams will be around come wildcard weekend. Mark my words.
End.
