Long time no post...

Yeah, I have actually managed to not post for over a month. How crazy. And at one point I was utterly addicted to lj. Not that it doesn't have a soft spot in my heart, but I have to write a journal for psychology, also, and amidst everything else there is to do, it is hard to find time to write.
Anyway, an update.
My classes are all going quite well. I have A's in everything, and now we're actually in the process of making schedules. It looks like next semester I will have chem II, cal II, hon. physics I, hon. analytic methods, modern German culture, and graphics communication. It will be interestesting, to say the least. Fall next year will be even worse, though, with the coming of cal III, organic chem, physics II, and a bunch of other stuff. I was talking about the difficulty of this route as a way to vet school with Dr. Gilbert. He told me that, especially if I want to go into academia, the hard science background will come in handy. Throwing in a German minor and all the science courses I want to take to prepare for vet school will be an additional challenge, but I'm about a semester ahead with my ap and clep credit, so we'll see how it goes.
Theta Tau is the engineering fraternity that I'm pledging. It is a hoot, to say the least. Not to mention all the boys you can get the hook up with. So awesome, 80% male. Mmm-hmmm. They had Pig Pickin' the big homecoming party a couple weeks ago and people from chapters across the country came. I met this awesome guy named Adam, but unfortunately, he's from Ohio. That's kind of poopy, but I'll see him at interchapter events. Just here, though, there are so many fun people. I'm really enjoying it. Now we're in the process of making hammers out of mahogany, and it's a challenge. Have to use hand saws and files and sand paper to make something with only 1/16" tolerance. It's fun, though, and a good bonding experience.
Band is awesome. It's really fun playing bass, and I'm learning a lot. Basses are finally starting to clean up our unisons, so it's really starting to sound good. I'm excited. There's nothing like a solid unison on bass line. Yes I am a drum nerd. Speaking of which, also playing in the wind ensemble, and that's fun. I was absolutely sucking today, though. It started out horribly because chem lab took a damn 3 1/2 hours, which is absurdly long, and we had our midterm in there. That already wasn't pleasant, and then I had to run to wind ensemble and was a half an hour late. At wind ensemble, I missed my solos, played during the railroad tracks, and did my best to screw up every song. I had little hope for band after that, and actually did mess up even more stuff (played during a snare solo), but then the delirium came. I got in an exceptionally good mood, and it has lasted. Engineering student council meeting tonight was even fun. After that we were working on a project for Intro to Engineering. We have to design a structure that will launch an egg 3 feet vertically using only popsicle sticks, glue, tape, toothpicks, straws, and paper and something to catch it. Sounds fun, but quite a pain. Lane's in my group, though, along with 2 of our men folk and a girl from our hall, so it's fun.
This weekend is going to rock the house. Tomorrow I'm driving up with Karen to Old Miss. I'll see some of my buddies up there for the first time in a while and maybe will go eat dinner with them. I know in the evening I'm going to some party with my brother Zach and his friends. Should be quite interesting. I'll drive back midday, and then am hitching a ride with some Theta Tau-ians down to the big Vicksburg for a party for one of the coops that is a good friend of Lane's from childhood. That will be fun.
Other than that... went home last weekend. Fun to play, interesting to see the band, and good to see my friends. Also, my parents have worked everything out, and my Dad is in the process of moving back from his apartment. Happy times. The dog is also still alive, but she is looking very old. She's over 15 years old. That's crazy.
Now I have to do my psych journal, though, so I'm off to do that. Hope everyone is doing fan-diddly-tastic.
