Maverick -- More clever than I thought!

Okay, so this is a) a (mild) spoiler and b) stolen from tvtropes.com. But still, I thought it was interesting as it's poker-related. The spoiler is that Maverick wins the poker game, but duh, he's the main guy. Other, more interesting spoilers are left unspoilt

Wait, what? I've never seen the movie, but are you telling me in the middle of a hand they switch decks and finish drawing from a new one? Could the dude with quads have drawn one and ended up with 5 of a kind? Sure that beats a royal, right?

Yes, in the middle of the hand they switch decks. I believe it was because Maverick noticed that during the draw, the dealer bottom-dealt to the two bad guys. So they had already drawn when Maverick made his demand.
I don't know what they would have done if he'd have drawn, say, the king of spades and would up with KKQJTs.
But anyway, this is all moot because... well, WAFO. It's a pretty solid movie.
